The association of ultrasound assessment of gallbladder wall thickness with dengue fever severity.

Objectives: To evaluate the association between ultrasound assessment of gallbladder wall thickness (GBWT) among severe dengue patients and dengue patients with warning signs to their clinical outcomes.

Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional study involving adult dengue patients presented to our emergency department between March until September 2018. The patients were classified based on WHO classification.

Denosumab as the Treatment of Recalcitrant Tuberculous Pleural Effusion-Associated Hypercalcemia.

Denosumab is a human monoclonal antibody that binds to RANKL (receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand). It has mainly been used in the treatment of osteoporosis for a variety of causes especially in situations refractory to bisphosphonates or when kidney function is impaired. It is also used in cases of malignancy-associated hypercalcemia.

Intrapleural streptokinase for the treatment of chylothorax.

Chylothorax is suspected when milky white turbid fluid is obtained from thoracocentesis. Conservative management usually involves intercostal tube drainage, dietary restriction, and total parenteral nutrition. Surgery is indicated when conservative management fails.
