VP30 and VP40 proteins of Ebola and Marburg viruses have been recognized as potential targets for antiviral drug development due to their essential roles in the viral lifecycle. Targeting these proteins could disrupt key stages of the viral replication process, inhibiting the viruses' ability to propagate and cause disease. GU, also modifies the characteristics of tight junction proteins (occludin and claudin) at the site of BBB by depolarizing the enzyme, protein tyrosine phosphatase that manifests its usefulness for passive delivery of nanocarriers to the brain.
