Perivascular epithelioïd cell tumor (PEComa) is a mesenchymal neoplasm with epithelioïd or spindled morphology with numerous thin-walled capillaries between tumor cells. They co-express markers of both melanocytic and smooth muscle differentiation. PEComas are rare, presenting in numerous anatomic sites including lung, kidney, liver, genitourinary tract, soft tissue, and skin.

We performed a retrospective cohort study to increase awareness in orthopaedic community of this rare but interesting disease which is often misdiagnosed as meniscal pathology and to analyze present results of arthroscopic resection in seven patients. we retrospectively reviewed records from 2008-2012 and identified 7 patients with symptomatic Hoffa's fat pad impingement. The diagnosis was made by clinical exam, MRI imaging and verified arthroscopically.

Dendritic cell (DC)-specific intercellular cell adhesion molecule-3 (ICAM-3)-grabbing non-integrin (DC-SIGN) is expressed on the surface of DCs and specialized macrophages and can support T cell proliferation. Antibody-mediated co-ligation of CD3 and ICAM-3, the ligand for both DC-SIGN and leukocyte function-associated antigen-1, leads to T cell activation. Therefore, we tested to see whether DC-SIGN or a splice variant of dendritic cell-specific intercellular cell adhesion molecule-3-grabbing non-integrin (sDC-SIGN) can co-stimulate primary human T cells.
