Background: Vision loss following supine craniotomy is an unexpected and devastating complication for the patient and the operating team. Postoperative vision loss (POVL) is commonly associated with cardiac, spinal, neck, and prone head surgeries, as they share common risk factors, such as a prone position, intraoperative hypotension, a longer anesthesia duration, and the use of vasopressors. Herein, the authors report a case of irreversible vision loss following a frontal craniotomy in the supine position together with a review of the literature.

  • - The primary theory behind Fetus-in-fetu (FIF) involves abnormal development in twins, particularly in diamniotic monochorionic pregnancies, leading to a malformed fetus residing within a host twin.
  • - Nearly 1% of FIF cases involve the liver, and this article details the third documented case of intrahepatic FIF, highlighting its rarity in literature.
  • - The article emphasizes the importance of radiology in diagnosing FIF, advocating for teamwork between radiologists and pathologists to distinguish it from teratoma and support the monozygotic twin theory.

  • Medication review (MR) involves healthcare professionals systematically evaluating a patient's medications for safety and effectiveness, and consistent terminology is essential for research comparisons.
  • The aim of the study was to create a standardized international taxonomy with clear terms and definitions related to MR through a three-stage Delphi consensus with expert input.
  • Seven experts from four countries reached consensus on key terms like "discontinue medication" and "dose increase," promoting standardized language for MR research to enable more effective process evaluations across different healthcare settings.

The effects of seed meal (MPSM), autoclaving, and/or enzyme cocktail addition on performance, profitability, carcass traits, meat quality, and blood lipids of broilers between 1 and 35 d of age were investigated. Seven experimental diets were employed: the control 0% MPSM, 10% raw MPSM, 10% autoclaved MPSM (at a temperature of 120°C and 1 kg/cm pressure for 30 min), 10% raw MPSM supplemented with enzymes at 0.1 or 0.

A microwave hot pressing machine (MHPM) was used to heat the colander to produce fixed oils from each of castor, sunflower, rapeseed, and moringa seed and compared them to those obtained using an ordinary electric hot pressing machine (EHPM). The physical properties, namely the moisture content of seed (MCs), the seed content of fixed oil (S), the yield of the main fixed oil (Y), the yield of recovered fixed oil (Y), extraction loss (EL), six Efficiency of fixed oil extraction (E), specific gravity (SG), refractive index (RI) as well as chemical properties, namely iodine number (IN), saponification value (SV), acid value (AV), and the yield of fatty acid (Y) of the four oils extracted by the MHPM and EHPM were determined. Chemical constituents of the resultant oil were identified using GC/MS after saponification and methylation processes.

Background: Over 70% of care home residents are prescribed potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) associated with morbidity and mortality. Deprescribing is a common recommendation by pharmacists performing medication reviews in care homes, however requiring prescriber authorisation is a barrier. Care home Independent Pharmacist Prescribing Study (CHIPPS), a cluster randomised control trial integrated pharmacist independent prescriber (PIPs) into care homes to improve medication management, providing a unique opportunity to identify their barriers and enablers to deprescribing.
