In planar superconducting circuits, decoherence due to materials imperfections, especially two-level-system (TLS) defects at different interfaces, is a primary hurdle for advancing quantum computing and sensing applications. Traditional methods for mitigating TLS loss, such as etching oxide layers at metal and substrate interfaces, have proven to be inadequate due to the persistent challenge of oxide regrowth. In this work, we introduce a novel approach that employs molecular self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) to chemically bind at different interfaces of superconducting circuits.

Phytobezoars are solid masses of indigestible plant material and are a common type of gastrointestinal bezoar, with varying incidences globally. These bezoars typically form from the ingestion of high-fiber fruits and vegetables and are associated with factors such as decreased gastric acid production and delayed gastric emptying. We present a case of a 35-year-old healthy man with recurrent upper abdominal pain, nausea, a rolling ball sensation in the abdominal region, and a history of consuming unripe persimmons.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate and assess the effect of intermittent tamsulosin treatment as a trial to increase the drug safety (in terms of reducing the drug side effects, particularly retrograde ejaculation) while maintaining the effect in reducing the symptoms and assess its impact on the patients' quality of life.

Materials And Methods: Patients who enrolled in this study were suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and were using 0.4 mg tamsulosin daily to relieve their symptoms but complained of ejaculatory problems.

Superconducting coplanar waveguide (CPW) microwave resonators in quantum circuits are the best components for reading and changing the state of artificial atoms because of their excellent coupling to quantum systems. This coupling forms the basis of the developing circuit quantum electrodynamic architecture. In quantum processors, oscillators are used to store and transmit quantum information using microwave-frequency wave packets.

Partial molar pregnancy results from fertilization of a haploid ovum by two sperms or duplication of one sperm, resulting in a triploid karyotype. The coexistence of partial mole with normal fetus karyotype is rare and occurs in 0.005-0.

Imbalanced data sets in materials informatics are pervasive and pose a challenge to the development of classification models. This work investigates crystal point group prediction as an example of an imbalanced classification problem in materials informatics. Multiple resampling and classification techniques were considered.

Article Synopsis
  • Predicting crystal structures from chemical formulas is a tough challenge in condensed matter physics, and this study introduces a machine learning model for determining crystal point groups of ternary materials (A,B,C).
  • The model uses a small set of important features (stoichiometry, ionic radii, ionization energies, oxidation states) to achieve impressive balanced accuracies over 95% with multiple ML methods, despite the complexities of the task.
  • The accuracy of the predictions is currently constrained by the amount of data available, suggesting that having more comprehensive data could lead to even more precise predictions.

Background Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common upper gastrointestinal disorder characterized by heartburn and acid regurgitation. A higher incidence is found in Arab countries. Untreated GERD has a negative impact on individuals that interfere with daily activities and impaired quality of life.
