Background: Despite global efforts, progress in reducing maternal malnutrition falls short of international goals, which is the same for Ethiopia, provided that studying dietary knowledge, attitude, and practice and their determinants is crucial to developing and implementing effective interventions, which this review tried to investigate in an Ethiopian context.

Methods: We searched on Scopus, HINARI, PubMed, and Google Scholar on January 3, 2024. We used the Joanna Briggs Institute's (JBI's) tools and the "preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) 2020 statement" to evaluate bias and frame the review, respectively.

The high-contrast-grating waveplates utilizing high contrast between silicon and air refractive indexes were developed in order to perform as a quarter wave and a half wave plate in the selected THz frequency range. The waveplates possessed anti-reflective properties due to the specific inclination of the walls both in parallel and in perpendicular direction to grating axis, efficiently suppressing the reflection losses caused by air-dielectric interface for both transverse magnetic and transverse electric polarizations. Moreover, significant reduction of the transmittance gap was achieved between both polarizations while mitigating overall Fabry-Perot effect.

High attrition rates from ART are the primary contributors to morbidity, death, hospitalisation, rising transmission rates, treatment failure, rising burden of opportunistic infections (OIs), and the evolution of HIV-virus resistance (HIVDR). In Sub-Saharan Africa, more than two-thirds of ART patients will not receive continuous care. There is little information about the correlates that contribute to attrition from ART services among ART patients in Southern Ethiopia.

Background: Preoperative anxiety is a major mental health problem during the preoperative period. Admission of women to surgery is stressful, and a high level of anxiety was associated with increased perioperative morbidity and mortality, poor treatment satisfaction, and bad obstetric outcomes, including long-term cognitive impairment in children. Despite its negative consequences, little is known on this area, particularly in the study area.

The current research has come from the deep concern for the sustainability of the environment in terms of waste disposal and producing bio-based materials. In this way, the developed composite materials made from flax fiber reinforced with expanded polystyrene wastes are low-cost, lightweight, eco-friendly and will be reduced environmental pollution. In this paper, alkali-treated short flax fiber reinforced expanded polystyrene (FFEPS) composites were developed to characterize mechanical and water absorption properties.

Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) are the commonest causes of non-cirrhotic abdominal vein thrombosis. MPN was observed in 30-40% with Budd Chiari Syndrome (BCS) and portal vein thrombosis (PVT), whereas this is the cause in only a minority of other types of venous thrombosis. Herein, we report 10 cases of chronic PVT secondary to Janus Kinase 2 gene (JAk 2) positive myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN).

Acquired hepatocerebral degeneration (AHD) is a neurologic syndrome caused by liver dysfunction and long-standing portosystemic shunting. The pathogenesis of the condition is predominantly considered to be related to the deposition of manganese in parts of the brain due to shunting. We report a case of a 25-year-old male who underwent splenectomy and splenorenal shunt for recurrent upper GI bleeding (UGIB) due to esophageal varices caused by non-cirrhotic portal hypertension (NCPH).

Introduction: Women's decision-making autonomy has a positive effect on the scale-up of contraceptive use. In Ethiopia, evidence regarding women's decision-making autonomy on contraceptive use and associated factors is limited and inconclusive. Therefore, this study was intended to assess married women's decision-making autonomy on contraceptive use and associated factors in Ethiopia using a multilevel logistic regression model.

Background: There was a fast improvement of twin's birth outcomes in the past decade, but it was average in developing countries. Stillbirth, preterm birth, low birth weight, and birth asphyxia are the major contributors to poor twin birth outcomes. This study was crucial to address the gaps and clarify the outcome of twin delivery.

Background: Short Birth Interval negatively affects the health of both mothers and children in developing nations, like, Ethiopia. However, studies conducted to date in Ethiopia upon short birth interval were inconclusive and they did not show the extent and determinants of short birth interval in developing (Afar, Somali, Gambella, and Benishangul-Gumuz) regions of the country. Thus, this study was intended to assess the short birth interval and its determinants in the four developing regions of the country.

Recognition of, and acting on, Social Determinants of Health is crucial for reducing health inequalities and territorial disparities and hence improving health of the whole population. Although Sudan was among the first countries which adopted a roadmap for Health in All Policies, health inequity remains an important challenge for health makers in this country. This paper illustrates the urgent need to reduce health inequalities in Sudan by acting on Social Determinants of Health.
