There is a consensus among experts and consumers that pulses are a good source of nutrients and fiber. In a traditional hummus recipe, chickpeas are the major ingredient. The present study is aimed at developing new legume dips by exchanging chickpeas (Chd) with dry green (Gld) and red lentils (Rld), dry white beans (Wbd), and dry green peas (Gpd).

Exogenous Melatonin Use in University Students: A Cross-Sectional Survey.

To assess the prevalence of melatonin use and its perceived benefits among university students in different specialties in Saudi Arabia, a cross-sectional survey was conducted between March and June 2023. Data about demographics, time of melatonin use, perceived reasons for exogenous melatonin use, melatonin use in relation to exam periods, perceived safety, and adverse effects was gathered. Of 380 students, ~52% reported using exogenous melatonin for sleep disorders.

Community Pharmacists' Knowledge, Attitudes and the Perceived Safety and Effectiveness of Melatonin Supplements: A Cross-Sectional Survey.

Melatonin, which is classified as a dietary supplement by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, is used to manage sleep disorders. In this study, community pharmacists' knowledge and attitudes about dispensing melatonin supplements and the perceived safety and effectiveness of melatonin were assessed. A cross-sectional survey of community pharmacists in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was conducted from March-June 2023.

An Exploration of the Public's Attitude toward Antibiotic Use and Prescription in Light of the Recent Ministry of Health Regulations: A Cross-Sectional Study in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Background: Restricting antibiotic (AB) use with prescriptions and ensuring proper knowledge and attitudes toward AB use is important to reduce antibiotic resistance (ABR). To prevent resistanse problem, several countries have applied prescribing restrictions. Thus, the aim of this work was to re-evaluate the public knowledge and attitudes related to AB use in light of the recent Ministry of Health (MOH) restrictions on AB prescriptions.

The role of serotonergic and catecholaminergic systems for possible antidepressant activity of apigenin.

Background And Objective: Although, the anti-depressant like effects of apigenin (APG) are documented in the literature, the underlying mechanism for exerting such an effect is still not clear. In this research, an attempt was made to determine the possible role of APG for antidepressant activity through serotonergic and catecholaminergic systems using standardized animal models.

Materials And Methods: The antidepressant property of APG was determine by involving tail suspension (TST) and modified forced swimming tests (MFST).

Epidemiological determinants for the spread of COVID-19 in Riyadh Province of Saudi Arabia.

Background And Objective: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected millions of individuals all over the world. In addition to the patients' compelling indications, various sociodemographic characteristics were identified to influence infection complications. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of the aforementioned parameters on the dissemination of COVID-19 among residents of Saudi Arabia's Riyadh region.

Patterns of tobacco consumption in food facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Aim: This study aimed at assessing prevailing patterns and risk factors of tobacco consumption among clients, food handlers and employers of food facilities, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Methods: A cross-sectional approach to a representative sample of food facilities in Riyadh was used. A sample of 3000 participants included clients (75%); food handlers/hospitality workers (20 %) and employers (5 %).

Hard sphere fluids at a soft repulsive wall: a comparative study using Monte Carlo and density functional methods.

Hard-sphere fluids confined between parallel plates at a distance D apart are studied for a wide range of packing fractions including also the onset of crystallization, applying Monte Carlo simulation techniques and density functional theory. The walls repel the hard spheres (of diameter σ) with a Weeks-Chandler-Andersen (WCA) potential V(WCA)(z) = 4ε[(σ(w)/z)(12) - (σ(w)/z)(6) + 1/4], with range σ(w) = σ/2. We vary the strength ε over a wide range and the case of simple hard walls is also treated for comparison.

A new accurate method for predicting lithium clearance and daily dosage requirements in adult psychiatric patients.

Objective: The present study aimed to derive new equations for estimating lithium clearance and daily dosage requirements needed to achieve an intended lithium serum level for adult psychiatric inpatients and outpatients.

Methods: Data were retrospectively collected from 60 adult psychiatric patients (34 males and 26 females, aged between 18-80 years) in both inpatient and outpatient settings. All variables that might affect lithium clearance and/or lithium serum concentration were included and analyzed by stepwise multiple linear regression to produce equations describing lithium clearance and daily dosage requirements for these patients.

Detection of transplant coronary artery disease using multidetector computed tomography with adaptative multisegment reconstruction.

Objectives: This study sought to determine whether multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) may be able to detect occlusive coronary disease in transplanted hearts.

Background: In heart transplant recipients, asymptomatic coronary disease requiring frequent surveillance commonly develops. Recent advancements in MDCT allow for noninvasive assessment of the coronary vessels.
