Background: Despite increasing interest in quality end-of-life care (EOLC), critically ill patients often receive suboptimal care. Critical care nurses play a crucial role in EOLC, but face numerous barriers that hinder their ability to provide compassionate and effective care.

Methods: An integrative literature review was conducted to investigate barriers impacting the quality of end-of-life care.

Receptor for advanced glycation endproducts (RAGE) and toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) are pattern-recognition receptors that bind to molecular patterns associated with pathogens, stress, and cellular damage. Diffusion plays an important role in receptor functionality in the cell membrane. However, there has been no prior investigation of the reciprocal effect of RAGE and TLR4 diffusion properties in the presence and absence of each receptor.

Background And Aims: Several randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have shown that almonds can improve oxidative stress indices, but the results are controversial. Therefore, the goal of this research was to carry out a systematic review and meta-analysis of all RCTs that evaluated the effect of almonds on selected oxidative stress indices.

Methods: A systematic search was conducted up to April 2022 on PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.

Liver cirrhosis results from prolonged and extensive liver fibrosis in which fibrotic tissues replace functional hepatic cells. Chronic liver disease due to various viral, chemical, or metabolic factors initiates hepatic fibrogenesis. Cirrhosis is associated with multiple clinical complications and a poor patient prognosis; therefore, developing novel antifibrotic therapies to prevent cirrhosis is of high priority.

Alkylimidazolium chloride ionic liquids (ILs) have many uses in a variety of separation systems, including micro-confined separation systems. To understand the separation mechanism in these systems, the diffusion properties of analytes in ILs under relevant operating conditions, including micro-confinement dimension and temperature, should be known. For example, separation efficiencies for various IL-based microextraction techniques are dependent on the sample volume and temperature.

Breast cancer must be addressed by a multidisciplinary team aiming at the patient's comprehensive treatment. Recent advances in science make it possible to evaluate tumor staging and point out the specific treatment. However, these advances must be combined with the availability of resources and the easy operability of the technique.

The goal of this study is to see how cold plasma affects rabbit bone tissue infected with osteoporosis. The search is divided into three categories: control, infected, and treated. The rabbits were subjected to cold plasma for five minutes in a room with a microwave plasma voltage of "175 V" and a gas flow of "2.

The aim of this study is to demonstrate the effect of particle size on semiconductor properties; artificial intelligence is being used for the research methods. As a result, we picked cadmium sulfide (CdS), which is a unique semiconductor material that is employed in a broad variety of current applications. Given that CdS has distinct electrical and optical characteristics, it may be employed in the production of solar cells, for example.

This research explores how e-health systems' features (information quality, quality of the system, usability perceived, and perceived usefulness) contribute to improving medical personnel performance in medical centers, patient care, and physician-patient interactions in Jordan. The objective is to evaluate a single integrated model consisting of the technology acceptance model. This study used the logical research method and approach.

Background: In this paper, we used search engine technology to study outcome analysis and cost awareness of child hydrocephalus in the literature.

Methods: The aggregate hospital charges of hydrocephalus treatment procedures for patients <18 years old was extracted from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) data. Hydrocephalus literature was probed through the PubMed biomedical search engine.

Objective: In this paper we present our observation of a specific sign on transvaginal ultrasound that may help basic minimal invasive surgeons diagnose vesico-uterine adhesions preoperatively.

Methods: The ultrasound images of the latest eleven patients who were preoperatively diagnosed with vesico-uterine adhesions using transvaginal ultrasound were compared with their intraoperative findings.

Results: Ultrasonography showed a spectrum of changes from obliterated anterior cul-de-sac to dense fibrosis between the lower uterine segment and cervix with the bladder.

Chronic back pain is commonly associated with physical and mental comorbidities, which create a considerable burden on the healthcare system. We examined the differences in comorbidity rates of 619 spinal surgery patients of employment age, and the impact of comorbidity rates on length of hospital stay and cost. The charts of patients aged >25 years and <65 years were reviewed retrospectively.

Complex shifts in demography combined with drastic advancements in spinal surgery have led to a steep increase in often expensive spinal interventions in older and obese patients. A cost analysis, based on hospital charges, was performed retrospectively on the spinal surgery of 787 randomly selected patients who were operated at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, a large urban hospital in Central Georgia. The types of surgery included anterior cervical decompression and fusion (ACDF), lumbar decompression and fusion (LDF), and lumbar microdiscectomy (LMD).

West Nile virus (WNV) is one of the leading causes of insect-borne encephalitis and acute flaccid paralysis in the US. Acute flaccid paralysis is a potentially serious illness, which manifests itself as a Guillain-Barré-like syndrome with generalized weakness and shortness of breath. We report a case involving a patient who presented with acute flaccid paralysis due to WNV infection and was successfully treated with intravenous immunoglobulin from Israeli donors.
