Introduction: For continuous hemodialysis, an appropriate vascular access, mostly through an arteriovenous fistula (AVF), is crucial. The Brescia-Cimino (BC) method is a common surgical method for AVF creation. However, this method is sometimes not possible, due to a small venous diameter or its wide distance from the artery.

Lead exposure changes gastric motility in rats: role of nitric oxide (NO).

Background: Abdominal colic, constipation and delay in gastric emptying are symptoms of lead poisoning, but there is scant information about the effect of lead on gastric motility. In the present study, we investigated the effect of lead acetate on gastric motility in rats.

Methods: Animals were divided into nine groups (n=8); four groups were exposed to lead acetate solution (1%) for 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks (Pb1, Pb2, Pb3, and Pb4 groups, respectively).

Prevalence of anemia in type 2 diabetes and role of renal involvement.

Anemia is more common and more severe in diabetics compared to nondiabetic chronic kidney disease patients. This study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of anemia and the contribution of level of nephropathy to anemia in type 2 diabetic patients. A total of 1,962 patients with type 2 diabetes were evaluated for anemia and biochemical profile.

Views of Users towards the Quality of Hospital Information System in Training Hospitals.

Background: Users of hospital information system (HIS) use these systems dur-ing working day and know its problems better than others know. Studying their views is very important and can be espe-cially effective in the development of the in-formation system. The aim of this study was to investigate the users' views to-wards the qual-ity of hospital information system in the training hospitals of Mash-had University of medical sciences.

Comparison between drainage and curettage in the treatment of acute pilonidal abscess.

Objective: Simple incision and drainage of a sacrococcygeal pilonidal abscess is associated with more than 40% recurrence. Definitive treatment of the chronic pilonidal sinus is recommended 4-8 weeks after incision and drainage. The present prospective clinical trial study was designed to compare the curettage and drainage of the acute abscess of the pilonidal sinus.
