In this study, concentrations of cadmium using 3778 samples encompassing the total size of Spain (about 505 km) were investgated. Two novel spatial methods namely Moran eigenvector spatially varying coefficient (MESVC) and spatially filtered unconditional quantile regression (SF-UQR) were employed with the aim of avoiding the problem of local collinearity which is prevalent in regression models. Additionally, the spatially varying coefficients methods were applied to assess the influence of soil properties together with soil texture on the spatial variations of cadmium.

The main objective of this research was to investigate the impact of the construction of Karkheh Dam in 2001 (referred to as the intervention time), on groundwater quality. Identification of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) sources and hot spot areas are the primary driving forces for their control in the environment. This study was performed in the US coastal areas to identify the major sources of PAHs and investigate the spatial distribution associated with carcinogenic PAHs (CPAHs) using a novel spatial forecasting method for the first time in environmental sciences. Diagnostic ratios of PAHs demonstrated the predominance of pyrogenic sources compared to petrogenic sources within the area of study.

The Anzali Wetland is one of the most important ecosystems in the north of Iran, and parts of it were registered as a Ramsar site in 1975. However, even though, due to many problems, including eutrophication produced by inflow of excess nutrients and organic materials, the wetland was also listed on the Montreux Record indicating the need to take urgent remedial action.
