The objective of this study was to improve the permeability and water solubility rate of a poor water soluble drug, cyclosporine A (CsA). In order to improve the drug dissolution rate and oral bioavailability, electrospinning method was used as an approach to prepare. The fibers were evaluated for surface morphology, thermal characterizations, drug crystallinity, drug release and bioavailability studies.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), as major stem cells for cell therapy, have been studied from different aspects in preclinical and clinical settings for more than a decade. These cells modulate the immune system (humoral and cellular immune responses) in vitro by producing soluble factors (anti-inflammatory molecules) and/or making cell-cell contacts. Hence, they could be used in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering and immune therapy.

Timolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist administered for treating glaucoma, heart attacks and hypertension. In the present study, we set out to determine whether or not timolol can provoke cataract formation, thus the influence of timolol on the amyloid-type aggregation of crystallin was investigated. We then provided experimental evidence of crystallin aggregation and its induction by timolol using different spectroscopic measurements.

Sildenafil was investigated for its interaction with the native and modified human carbonic anhydrase II (hCA II). Modification of exposed histidine side chains with diethyl pyrocarbonate decreased esterase activity of the enzyme. The treatment of both native and modified CA with sildenafil revealed slight and moderate enzyme activation profiles, respectively.
