Bioactive materials and biosensing technologies are emerging as pivotal tools in the early detection and management of oral cancer, a disease characterized by high morbidity and mortality rates. Recent advancements in nanotechnology have facilitated the development of innovative biosensors that utilize bioactive materials for non-invasive diagnostics, particularly through salivary analysis. These biosensors, including electrochemical, optical, and molecular types, target specific biomarkers such as DNA, RNA, and proteins associated with oral cancer.

Discarded fishing nets, a major source of marine litter, significantly threaten the marine environment and contribute to plastic pollution due to the synthetic polymers they contain. Though Bangladesh is a maritime country with 0.5 million of fishers dependent on coastal and marine fishing, there have been no studies to date on the plastic pollution impact of fishing nets.

In cochlear implant (CI) procedures, an electrode array is surgically inserted into the cochlea. The electrodes are used to stimulate the auditory nerve and restore hearing sensation for the recipient. If the array folds inside the cochlea during the insertion procedure, it can lead to trauma, damage to the residual hearing, and poor hearing restoration.

This study focuses on synthesis of polyaniline composites and application as electrode material in the fabrication of hybrid supercapacitors. Hybrid supercapacitors were fabricated using aluminum foil as current collector, and conductive Polyaniline (PANI) composites as electrode materials. Cobalt oxide (CoO), ammonium peroxydisulfate (APS) were used along with PANI in the preparation of electrodes of the supercapacitor.

Cochlear implants (CIs) use an array of electrodes surgically threaded into the cochlea to restore hearing sensation. Techniques for predicting the insertion depth of the array into the cochlea could guide surgeons toward more optimal placement of the array to reduce trauma and preserve the residual hearing. In addition to the electrode array geometry, the base insertion depth (BID) and the cochlear size could impact the overall array insertion depth.

Acute hepatitis due to hepatitis E virus (HEV) is endemic in Bangladesh, but its epidemiological characteristics and virological features remain obscure. An outbreak of acute icteric hepatitis E occurred in Rajshahi, Bangladesh during 2010 when 200 patients with visible jaundice visited physicians within a period of 1 month (January-February). Clinical and epidemiological data were collected from these patients using questionnaires.

Direct evidence is reported of structural and electronic effects induced on a single Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta) (Bi-2212) whisker during a progressive annealing process. The crystal was investigated by micro X-ray diffraction (micro-XRD), micro X-ray fluorescence and electrical characterization at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, during a series of three in situ thermal processes at 363 K. Each step increased the sample resistivity and decreased its critical temperature, up to a semiconducting behaviour.
