Background And Objective: The aging of society has contributed to individuals living longer with chronic illnesses. This places them at risk to develop cancer. Treating older adults with chronic illnesses and cancer, places strain on oncologists as this group of individuals is heterogenous in nature, differing in their functional status, co-morbidities, etc.

Palliative care in the older adult with cancer and the role of the geriatrician: a narrative review.

Background And Objective: Palliative care can offer individuals improved quality of care and life. While many individuals would benefit from palliative care, only a minority will receive it. Integrating palliative care with geriatrics can help relieve this deficit, help with basic symptom management, advanced care planning (ACP) and develop goals of care to assure that the care provided is congruent with the individual's priorities.
