The current study addresses the pressing issue of unsustainable water management, particularly in regions experiencing high water stress. It focuses on examining the viability of polymeric membranes composed of biobased materials, mainly chitosan, for various sustainable water management solutions. The membranes evaluated in the study were blends of PVC with either chitosan-silica or charcoal-silica, designed to enhance their functionality and performance.

Although proteomics and metabolomic profiling offer the potential to elucidating such biological markers, reports of methodological approaches for carrying this out in isolates remain limited. We describe the use of a dual-functionality methanol extraction method for the concurrent extraction of protein and metabolites from and report on the comparative analysis of the proteomic and metabolomic profiles of MRSA versus methicillin sensitive (MSSA).

Levofloxacin (LVX) is among the fluoroquinolones antibiotics that has also been studied in vitro and in vivo for its anticancer effects. In this study, we used LVX and novel LVX thionated derivatives; compounds 2 and 3, to evaluate their antioxidant activity, aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) enzymes activity inhibition, and anticancer activity. Combination treatments with doxorubicin (DOX) were investigated as well.

Two piezoelectric transducers are adopted to establish the wireless power links, within which one transducer is used to generate ultrasonic waves and the other is to receive the transferred ultrasonic energy and to energize the associated embedded condition monitoring units. A power management solution is established to regulate the receiver output into a constant voltage suitable for sensing application.

In this report we describe the cyclization of various alkanedithiols to afford cyclic disulfide, tetrasulfide, and hexasulfide compounds. The latter compounds were used as proligands for the synthesis of a series of [FeFe]-hydrogenase H-cluster mimics having the general formulas [Fe(CO){μ-S(CH)S}] (n = 4-8), [Fe(CO){μ-S(CH)S}] (n = 6-8), and [Fe(CO){(μ-S(CH)S)}] (n = 6-8).
