This study investigates the influence of various fillers on the properties of carrageenan, a natural polymer derived from red seaweed. Despite its potential for enhanced biocomposite film development, carrageenan faces challenges related to strength. The incorporation of nanoclay into the carrageenan film resulted in a significant increase in film thickness from 0.

A new adsorbent was synthesized using ion-exchange between iron salts and bentonite modified with acetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) in the solid phase. Ion-exchange was performed in the solid state at a temperature of 100 °C for 2 min. Various analyses such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), porosity measurement (BET), infrared Fourier transform (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray energy diffraction (EDX), and thermal weighing (TGA) were used to characterize the synthesized nano-adsorbents.

In this study, biodegradable κ-carrageenan films containing 3% nanoclay and different amounts of rosemary extract (1, 2 and 3% v/v) were fabricated and their physical, thermal, and mechanical properties, as well as antimicrobial activity were examined. The film thickness did not change significantly by the addition of rosemary extract. UV light transmission value in the control film was 20.

Montmorillonite -copper oxide (MMT-CuO) nanocomposites were prepared by a facile and eco-friendly method and introduced into chitosan (Cs) matrix to enhance its optical, mechanical and antibacterial properties. The synthesized composites were characterized using diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. The antimicrobial activity of MMT-CuO nanocomposites showed more than 99% mortality against two Gram-negative bacterium (E.

It is demonstrated that any theoretical analysis of experimental surface plasmon resonance (SPR) curves of metallic nano bilayers preferably should be accompanied by a more sensitive technique that is less prone to experimental errors. Micro energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence has been shown to be a powerful technique for predicting SPR angle and assessing Au/Ag nanolayer composite spatial homogeneity.
