Numerous microbial species have caused infectious diseases worldwide, which have become a social burden and a menace to the community. So, there is a need to develop antimicrobial materials and specialized materials for biomedical applications. In the present investigation, we report the simple synthesis, the physicochemical, and antibacterial activity of Silver doped zinc sulfide (ZnS: Ag) capped with Chitosan (CS) to produce ZnS: Ag/CS bionanocomposites (BNCs).

In this study, a large field-of-view (FOV) gamma detector consisting of 48 square PMTs developed using a new readout electronics, reducing 48 (6 × 8) analog signals to 14 (6 + 8) analog sums of each row and column, with reduced complexity and cost while preserving image quality.
Methods: All 14 analog signals were converted to digital signals using AD9257 high-speed analog to digital (ADC) converters driven by the SPARTAN-6 family of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA) in order to calculate the signal integrals.
Introduction: Examining the retina represents a non-invasive method to evaluate abnormalities pertaining to the nervous and cardiovascular systems. Evidence indicates that physical activity is a non-pharmacological intervention to enhance the nervous and cardiovascular systems. However, little is unknown about its effects on ocular characteristics in children and adolescents.

For this purpose, the changes in Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) under the A1B, A2, and B1 climate change scenarios in Iran were assessed. The daily weather data of 30 synoptic stations from 1992 to 2010 were analyzed.

A 14-year-old female with a thumb-sucking habit in childhood, presented with a severe open bite, a convex profile, and an obtuse nasolabial angle. Diagnosis revealed a skeletal Class II open bite with moderate crowding in the maxillary and mild crowding in the mandibular arch.

Their findings have often conflicted, therefore, there is an urgent need to synthesise a hierarchy of the evidence and examine the credibility of previous meta-analyses. To establish the robustness of these findings, we conducted an additional meta-analysis on a number of individual studies that were not covered in previous reviews but were suitable for inclusion in our own study.

The metastasis of cancer cells from the primary tumor site to other organs in the body, notably the lungs, bones, brain, and liver, is what causes breast cancer to ultimately be fatal. Brain metastases occur in as many as 30% of patients with advanced breast cancer, and the 1-year survival rate of these patients is around 20%.

This article reports an immunocompetent adolescent girl who developed fever, headache, and meningism which CSF molecular analysis with PCR was positive only for HHV-7. Interestingly, persistent cavum septum pellucidum and cavum vergae were observed on brain magnetic resonance imaging.

Descriptors portray the chemical characteristic of a molecule in numerical form, that is used for QSAR/QSPR models. The numerical values related with chemical constitutions that correlate the chemical structure with the physical properties refer to topological indices.

Aims: Many studies have found that frankincense has anticancer impacts, although these effects on breast CSLCs have never been evaluated.
Despite the advances in the regeneration/rehabilitation field of damaged tissues, the functional recovery of peripheral nerves (PNs), especially in a long gap injury, is considered a great medical challenge. Recent progress in nanomedicine has provided great hope for PN regeneration through the strategy of controlling cell behavior by metal nanoparticles individually or loaded on scaffolds/conduits. Despite the confirmed toxicity of metal nanoparticles due to long-term accumulation in nontarget tissues, they play a role in the damaged PN regeneration based on the topography modification of scaffolds/conduits, enhancing neurotrophic factor secretion, the ion flow improvement, and the regulation of electrical signals.

In this animal study, 40 male Wistar rats underwent RPE for 7 days and were divided into 4 groups including A: single LLLT on day 7, B: Multiple LLLT on days 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15, C: control (no LLLT), and D: sacrificed on day 7. Animals in group D were used to determine the amount of suture expansion.

This work reports on the design and performance evaluation of a novel fully integrated gamma probe (GammaPen), recently developed by our group.
Materials And Methods: GammaPen is an all-in-one pocket gamma probe with low weight and adequate dimensions, consisting of a detector, a control unit and output all together.
Objective: The purpose of the present study was to determine the facial anatomical landmarks, in order of accuracy, closest to the midline of the face, as well as oral cavity midline, and to specify which intraoral anatomical landmarks are closer to the dental midline.
Methods: Three commonly used anatomical landmarks including nasion, nose, and philtrum tips were marked clinically in 108 subjects. A frontal full-face digital image was used for midline analysis in accordance with the esthetic frame.
Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is characterized by excessive accumulation of lymphoblast and progenitors. Leukemia is the most common cancer in children and ALL is the most common subtype. Many studies have shown that the YKL-40 gene is one of the most widely expressed genes in tumors, including leukemia, but not in healthy blood cells.

The Randic Connectivity Index R(G) is one of the oldest connectivity index, introduced by Randić in 1975. Another connectivity indices is the Sum-Connectivity Index X(G) introduced in 2008 by Zhou and Trinajstić. Recently in 2011, a modification of the Randic Connectivity Index of a graph G was introduced by Dvorak et al.

Hereditary multiple exostoses, an autosomal dominant condition, is a common benign tumor which is characterized by the development of multiple osteochondromas. Bilateral dorsal and ventral involvement of scapulae is extremely rare without any reported case in the literature. An 18-year-old girl was referred because of bilateral prominent scapulae and left-sided pain on shoulder girdle motion especially at more than 90° abduction and forward flexion.

The topological indicators defined over this molecular graph have been shown to be strongly correlated to various chemical properties of the compounds. In this article, by means of graph structure analysis, we determine several distance based topological indices of friendship graph [Formula: see text] which is widely appeared in various classes of new nanomaterials, drugs and chemical compounds.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAmong topological descriptors, connectivity indices are very important and they have a prominent role in chemistry. The atom-bond connectivity index of a connected graph G is defined as ABC(G) = ∑(uv ∈E (G)) √((du + dv - 2)/dudv), where dv denotes the degree of vertex v of G and the eccentric connectivity index of the molecular graph G is defined as ξ(G) = ∑(v ∈V) dv × ε(v), where ε(v) is the largest distance between v and any other vertex u of G. Also, the eccentric atom-bond connectivity index of a connected graph G is equal to ABC5(G) =∑(uv ∈E (G)) √((ε(u) + ε(v) - 2)/(ε(u)ε(v))).

The forgotten topological index was defined to be used in the analysis of drug molecular structures, which is quite helpful for pharmaceutical and medical scientists to grasp the biological and chemical characteristics of new drugs. Such tricks are popularly employed in developing countries where enough money is lacked to afford the relevant chemical reagents and equipment.
