An acoustically levitated air-in-liquid compound drop is set into an out-of-phase azimuthal sloshing resonance by a modulated frequency with modes = 4-9. Waveforms of the inner and outer liquid-air interfaces conform to the classical Saffren model. Resonance peaks and their harmonics in the frequency spectrum are found to be a function of drop dimension and resonance modes.

Today, carbon nanotubes manufacturers as well as users such as molecular electronics, nanomedicine, nano-biotechnology and similar industries are facing a major challenge: lack of length uniformity of carbon nanotubes in mass production. An effective solution to this major issue is the use of a length-based ladder. We are, for the first time, presenting such a valuable tool to determine the length purity.

Parametric separation of carbon nanotubes, especially based on their length is a challenge for a number of nano-tech researchers. We demonstrate a method to combine bio-conjugation, SDS-PAGE, and silver staining in order to separate carbon nanotubes on the basis of length. Egg-white lysozyme, conjugated covalently onto the single-walled carbon nanotubes surfaces using carbodiimide method.

The seeding of a porous scaffold with stem cells is a fundamental step in engineering sizeable tissue constructs that are clinically viable. However, a key problem often encountered is inhomogeneous seeding of the cells particularly when the cells are delivered through the thickness of the scaffold. The objective of this study was to establish the quantitative relationships between the cell seeding efficiency and the initial vacuum pressure in a compact perfusion seeding device that uses the effect of differential pressure induced by vacuum to seed cells on a porous scaffold.

Microfluidic channels coated with ligands are a versatile platform for the separation or enrichment of cells from small sample volumes. This adhesion-based mode of separation is mediated by ligand-receptor bonds between the cells and channel surface and also by fluid shear stress. This paper demonstrates how aspects of microchannel geometry can play an additional role in controlling cell adhesion.
