Biomechanical and orthopaedic studies frequently encounter complex datasets that encompass both circular and linear variables. In most cases (i) the circular and linear variables are considered in isolation with dependency between variables neglected and (ii) the cyclicity of the circular variables is disregarded resulting in erroneous decision making. Given the inherent characteristics of circular variables, it is imperative to adopt methods that integrate directional statistics to achieve precise modelling.

Wind energy production depends not only on wind speed but also on wind direction. Thus, predicting and estimating the wind direction for sites accurately will enhance measuring the wind energy potential. The uncertain nature of wind direction can be presented through probability distributions and Bayesian analysis can improve the modeling of the wind direction using the contribution of the prior knowledge to update the empirical shreds of evidence.

This paper presents Bayesian directional data modeling via the skew-rotationally-symmetric Fisher-von Mises-Langevin (FvML) distribution. The prior distributions for the parameters are a pivotal building block in Bayesian analysis, therefore, the impact of the proposed priors will be quantified using the Wasserstein Impact Measure (WIM) to guide the practitioner in the implementation process. Differential networks (DN) are important tools for modeling the changes in conditional dependencies between multiple samples. A Bayesian approach for estimating DNs, from the classical viewpoint, is introduced with a computationally efficient threshold selection for graphical model determination. This paper focuses on the spread of the disease by applying heatmap retrieval of hotspot areas, and spatial analysis is carried out using the Moran index. For capturing spatial autocorrelation between the provinces of South Africa, the adjacent as well as the geographical distance measures are used as weight matrix for both absolute and relative counts.

In situations that the predictors are correlated with the error term, we propose a bridge estimator in the two-stage least squares estimation. We apply this estimator to overcome the multicollinearity and sparsity of the explanatory variables, when the endogeneity problem is present.The proposed estimator was applied to modify the Durbin-Wu-Hausman (DWH) test of endogeneity in the presence of multicollinearity.

This paper introduces a new family of matrix variate distributions based on the mean-mixture of normal (MMN) models. The properties of the new matrix variate family, namely stochastic representation, moments and characteristic function, linear and quadratic forms as well as marginal and conditional distributions are investigated. Three special cases including the restricted skew-normal, exponentiated MMN and the mixed-Weibull MMN matrix variate distributions are presented and studied.
