Therefore, we conducted this study to detect various cardiac abnormalities through a preoperative echocardiographic study for cases undergoing elective surgeries in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan. Prevalence and Predictors of Occlusive Myocardial Infarction in Patients Presenting With Non-ST-Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome in Duhok, Iraq: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background and aim Myocardial infarction is a major global health issue and the leading cause of death. Non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) could behave like ST-segment elevation ACS in terms of causing total or near total occlusion of the coronary artery and leading to occlusive myocardial infarction (OMI). This study aims to assess OMI prevalence and associated factors in NSTE-ACS patients in Duhok, Iraq, to improve diagnosis and treatment outcomes.

New Structures in the J/ψJ/ψ Mass Spectrum in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV.

A search is reported for near-threshold structures in the J/ψJ/ψ invariant mass spectrum produced in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV from data collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 135  fb^{-1}. Three structures are found, and a model with quantum interference among these structures provides a good description of the data. A new structure is observed with a local significance above 5 standard deviations at a mass of 6638_{-38}^{+43}(stat)_{-31}^{+16}(syst)  MeV.

Search for Inelastic Dark Matter in Events with Two Displaced Muons and Missing Transverse Momentum in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV.

A search for dark matter in events with a displaced nonresonant muon pair and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} of proton-proton (pp) collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV produced by the LHC in 2016-2018. No significant excess over the predicted backgrounds is observed.

Rates of the Trans-radial Approach in Elective and Emergency Coronary Angiography in Iraq: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background and aims The trans-radial access is becoming the default approach in many cardiac centers worldwide. Data from the Middle East, including Iraq, on the trends and rates of the use of trans-radial access are scarce. The aim of this study is to determine the rates of trans-radial approach (TRA) versus transfemoral approach (TFA) in patients with coronary artery syndromes undergoing coronary angiography and/or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Iraq.

A rare case of absolute thrombocytopaenia in a COVID-19 patient: Case report.

Introduction: Thrombocytopaenia, one of the most common haematological disorders worldwide, is characterised by platelet counts <150,000/mm. Patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were found to commonly exhibit haematological abnormalities, often with mild forms of thrombocytopaenia. Absolute thrombocytopaenia tends to be rare among these patients and is believed to be secondary to immune-induced thrombocytopaenia.

It argues that the interventionist plays a crucial role and should possess certain mental-manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination skills. Demographic, clinical and angiographic profile of coronary artery disease in kurdistan region of Iraq.

Introduction: The characters of coronary artery disease with its risk factors and coronary angiograms studied elsewhere revealed differences in different populations. Relationship Between Orthopedic Surgeon's Empathy and Inpatient Hospital Experience Scores in a Tertiary Care Academic Institution.

Studies have examined the relationship between physician empathy and patient experience, but few have explored it in surgeons. The purpose of this study was to report on orthopedic surgeon empathy in a mutlispecialty practice and explore its association with patient experience. Patients completed the consultation and relational empathy (CARE) measure (March 2017-August 2018) and Canadian Patient Experience Survey-Inpatient Care (CPES-IC; March 2017-February 2019) to assess empathy and patient experience, respectively.

Doppler-defined pulmonary hypertension in β-thalassemia major in Kurdistan, Iraq.

Cardiopulmonary complications are among the most important complications of thalassemia major. Pulmonary hypertension is among these complications and studies addressing its frequency and associations in the latter disorder are sparse from Iraq. For this purpose a total 100 thalassemia major patients (≥ 8 years old) were enrolled from a main thalassemia center in Kurdistan, Northern Iraq.

Genetic polymorphisms in early-onset myocardial infarction in a sample of Iraqi patients: a pilot study.

Objectives: Early-onset myocardial infarction constitutes nearly one third of cases of myocardial infarction among Iraqis, which is rather higher than the proportions reported in many Western countries. Thus this study was initiated to investigate the role of some genetic polymorphisms, as well as acquired risk factors in this condition.

Results: A total of 102 Iraqi patients with first myocardial infarction aged 50 years, and 77 matched controls were enrolled.

Estimation of apolipoprotein A in early onset ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.

Aims: The role of apolipoprotein A in early onset ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is not clear. This study sought to assess the apolipoprotein A in cohort of patients diagnosed with early onset acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction and to corelate it with major traditional cardiovascular risk factors.

Methods: A total of 50 such patients and 40 age and sex-matched healthy controls, both aged less than 50 years with their baseline demographic, clinical characteristics and cardiovascular risk factors were studied.

Outcome Analysis of Surgical Clipping for Incidental Internal Carotid Posterior Communicating and Anterior Choroidal Artery Aneurysms.
