Background and aim Echocardiography plays a pivotal role in the preoperative risk assessment of patients undergoing various surgical procedures. Therefore, we conducted this study to detect various cardiac abnormalities through a preoperative echocardiographic study for cases undergoing elective surgeries in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan. Methods This cross-sectional study assessed echocardiographic findings in preoperative patients at Azadi Teaching Hospital, Duhok, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, from 2023 to 2024.

In the present work, we synthesized a novel manganese-based MOF (denoted as UoZ-6) that functions as a cold/hot-adapted and recyclable oxidase nanozyme (Km 0.085 mM) further developed for ratiometric-based colorimetric and color tonality visual-mode detection of nitrite in water and food.

Non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) could behave like ST-segment elevation ACS in terms of causing total or near total occlusion of the coronary artery and leading to occlusive myocardial infarction (OMI). This study aims to assess OMI prevalence and associated factors in NSTE-ACS patients in Duhok, Iraq, to improve diagnosis and treatment outcomes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA search is reported for near-threshold structures in the J/ψJ/ψ invariant mass spectrum produced in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV from data collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 135 fb^{-1}. Three structures are found, and a model with quantum interference among these structures provides a good description of the data. A new structure is observed with a local significance above 5 standard deviations at a mass of 6638_{-38}^{+43}(stat)_{-31}^{+16}(syst) MeV.

The analysis is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1} of proton-proton (pp) collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV produced by the LHC in 2016-2018. No significant excess over the predicted backgrounds is observed.

Data from the Middle East, including Iraq, on the trends and rates of the use of trans-radial access are scarce. The aim of this study is to determine the rates of trans-radial approach (TRA) versus transfemoral approach (TFA) in patients with coronary artery syndromes undergoing coronary angiography and/or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Iraq.

Introduction: Thrombocytopaenia, one of the most common haematological disorders worldwide, is characterised by platelet counts <150,000/mm. Patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were found to commonly exhibit haematological abnormalities, often with mild forms of thrombocytopaenia. Absolute thrombocytopaenia tends to be rare among these patients and is believed to be secondary to immune-induced thrombocytopaenia.

It argues that the interventionist plays a crucial role and should possess certain mental-manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination skills. The article suggests a series of measures that collectively determine the successful role of the interventionist in the Cath lab.

We, here, assess the regional characters of coronary artery disease with its major risk factors and coronary angiographic profile in Duhok, Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Methods: We conducted this cross sectional study at the Azadi heart center in Duhok, Iraq.
Objective: To compare the mean operative time (MOT) in patients undergoing Ho: YAG laser lithotripsy (LL) and pneumatic lithotripsy (PL) for ureteric stones.
Methods: This randomized study was conducted at Armed Forces Institute of Urology (AFIU) Rawalpindi, Pakistan from July 2016 to November 2018. Non probability consecutive sampling technique utilized to enroll 60 patients of both gender aged 18-60 years, having ureteric calculus ≤1.
Studies have examined the relationship between physician empathy and patient experience, but few have explored it in surgeons. The purpose of this study was to report on orthopedic surgeon empathy in a mutlispecialty practice and explore its association with patient experience. Patients completed the consultation and relational empathy (CARE) measure (March 2017-August 2018) and Canadian Patient Experience Survey-Inpatient Care (CPES-IC; March 2017-February 2019) to assess empathy and patient experience, respectively.

Pulmonary hypertension is among these complications and studies addressing its frequency and associations in the latter disorder are sparse from Iraq. For this purpose a total 100 thalassemia major patients (≥ 8 years old) were enrolled from a main thalassemia center in Kurdistan, Northern Iraq.

Thus this study was initiated to investigate the role of some genetic polymorphisms, as well as acquired risk factors in this condition.
Results: A total of 102 Iraqi patients with first myocardial infarction aged 50 years, and 77 matched controls were enrolled.

Aims: The role of apolipoprotein A in early onset ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is not clear. This study sought to assess the apolipoprotein A in cohort of patients diagnosed with early onset acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction and to corelate it with major traditional cardiovascular risk factors.
Methods: A total of 50 such patients and 40 age and sex-matched healthy controls, both aged less than 50 years with their baseline demographic, clinical characteristics and cardiovascular risk factors were studied.

Background: The association of vitamin D deficiency with coronary artery disease (CAD) is controversial. This study seeks the association between vitamin D deficiency and acute myocardial infarction (MI) in Iraq.
Patients And Methods: A total of 104 patients with acute MI and 104 healthy controls were studied throughout 2015.
Introduction: Surgical outcome and ischemic complications of Internal carotid Posterior Communicating (IC PC) and anterior choroidal aneurysms have been questionable due to frequent occlusion of the anterior choroid artery and also due to low incidence of true anterior choroid artery aneurysms. The present series describes the postoperative outcome after clipping of such aneurysms at a single centre.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 73 cases with IC PC and Anterior choroidal aneurysms performed at a Fujita Health University, Banbuntane Hotokukai Hospital, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan from 2014 to 2018 have been studied and emphasis is made on the demography and ischemic complications.
The motor evoked potential (MEP) monitoring is routinely used as an adjunct in the microsurgical clipping of anterior circulation. We describe a case of unruptured basilar tip aneurysm treated with microsurgical clipping developed loss in MEP recording of the left abductor pollicis brevis (APB) following clipping of basilar tip aneurysm. A 58-year-old man was referred to the Fujita Health University Banbuntane-Hotokukai Hospital, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan, with incidental finding of unruptured 6.

To determine the impact of CYP2C19 genotyping on the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), in cohort of Iraqi patients on clopidogrel after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), a total of 201 Iraqi patients undergoing the latter procedure were enrolled. All enrollees had their CYP2C19 genotyped using polymerase chain reaction and reverse hybridization. Genotyping revealed that CYP2C19 *1, *17, *2, and *8 allele frequencies were, respectively, 0.
