Article Synopsis
  • The kidney is significantly affected by systemic inflammation, particularly in various autoinflammatory diseases (AIDs), where manifestations can range from common to severe, sometimes necessitating transplantation.
  • Kidney involvement in AIDs can manifest as conditions like renal amyloidosis, IgA nephropathy, and various forms of glomerulonephritis, along with vascular issues in specific diseases such as Behcet's disease.
  • Regular screening for kidney issues in AIDs patients is crucial, involving tests like urinalysis and serum creatinine, and awareness of nephrotoxicity and drug interactions is essential; exploring the use of IL-1 inhibitors may improve kidney outcomes in these patients.
