The objectives of this study are to determine which model, among those of Brody, Logistic, Gompertz, Von Bertalanffy and Richards, is the most appropriate to describe the growth of this breed and to choose a point for this model which would be closest to the slaughter weight which have to be used as a selection criterion. Also, in preparation for genetic evaluation under uncertain paternity, Henderson's Average Numerator Relationship Matrix method was used and an R code was developed for the creation of the inverse matrix A which was replaced the pedigree in the animal model. To do this, 64,282 observations corresponding to 12,944 animals, collected between 2009 and 2016, were analyzed.

Anaesthesiologists' clinical judgment accuracy regarding preoperative full stomach: Diagnostic study in urgent surgical adult patients.

Background: In urgent situations, preoperative full stomach assessment mostly relies on clinical judgment. Our primary objective was to assess the diagnostic performance of clinical judgment for the preoperative assessment of full stomach in urgent patients compared to gastric point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS). Our secondary objective was to identify risk factors associated with PoCUS full stomach in urgent patients.

Prediction Score for Postoperative Neurologic Complications after Brain Tumor Craniotomy: A Multicenter Observational Study.

Our objective was to validate a prediction score for postoperative neurosurgical complications in this setting.

Methods: Creation of a score in a learning cohort from a prospective specific database of 1,094 patients undergoing elective brain tumor craniotomy in one center from 2008 to 2012.

Due to recent changes (intracerebral monitoring, cerebral perfusion pressure management, treatment of raised intracranial pressure), an update was required. Hypothermia for Neuroprotection in Convulsive Status Epilepticus.

Background: Convulsive status epilepticus often results in permanent neurologic impairment. We evaluated the effect of induced hypothermia on neurologic outcomes in patients with convulsive status epilepticus.

Methods: In a multicenter trial, we randomly assigned 270 critically ill patients with convulsive status epilepticus who were receiving mechanical ventilation to hypothermia (32 to 34°C for 24 hours) in addition to standard care or to standard care alone; 268 patients were included in the analysis.

The optimal time between clinical brain death diagnosis and confirmation using CT angiography: a retrospective study.

Background: In several countries, a computed tomography angiography (CTA) is used to confirm brain death (BD). A six‑hour interval is recommended between clinical diagnosis and CTA acquisition despite the lack of strong evidence to support this interval. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal timing for CTA in the confirmation of BD.

Introduction: Brain midline shift (MLS) is a life-threatening condition that requires urgent diagnosis and treatment. We aimed to validate bedside assessment of MLS with Transcranial Sonography (TCS) in neurosurgical ICU patients by comparing it to CT.

Lethal hemorrhagic alveolitis after adenovirus pneumonia in a lung transplant recipient.

Viral infections are frequent and severe in lung transplant recipients. They frequently occur during the first year after transplantation. We report on a rare case of bilateral adenovirus necrotizing pneumonia with a diffuse alveolar hemorrhage, 4 years after bilateral lung transplantation.

Supporting small-scale dairy farmers in increasing milk production: evidence from Morocco.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of technical support provided to five small-scale cattle farms in the Tadla irrigation scheme (Morocco) on their milk yield. The first stage consisted of assessing the initial management of dairy herds, especially feeding strategies, and their effects on milk output. This diagnosis revealed major gaps between the existing and the potential milk yield, due to insufficient and imbalanced dietary rations.

A comparison of dairy cattle systems in an irrigated perimeter and in a suburban region: case study from Morocco.

Multivariate analyses were used to compare dairy production practices and their consequences on milk yield and profitability in cattle farms from two representative regions of Morocco. A regular follow-up of 118 farms (48 in the Rabat-Salé suburban belt and 70 in the Gharb irrigated perimeter) was undertaken to obtain accurate data. Results show significant differences between the two regions.
