The purpose of this research was to define the functions of MRS and ABR as predictors of bilirubin-induced neurologic dysfunction (BIND) in full-term neonates who required intervention (phototherapy and/or exchange transfusion). This prospective cohort study was done at the NICU of Tanta University Hospitals over a 2-year duration. Fifty-six full-term neonates with pathological unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia were divided according to MRS and ABR findings into 2 groups: group (1) included 26 cases with mild acute bilirubin encephalopathy (BIND-M score 1-4).

Methods: This observational study was conducted from June 2017 until May 2019 on 100 preterm neonates with RDS that needed switching from conventional mechanical ventilation to HFOV.
Background: The achievement of optimal number of CD34 umbilical cord stem cells is essential for successful umbilical cord stem cell transplantation. So the aim of this study was to assess the potential effect of both maternal and neonatal factors on the umbilical cord blood CD34 cell count.
Methods: The study was done on umbilical cord blood samples obtained from 20 mothers during labor.
Background: Obesity in adolescents has quadrupled in the past 30 y. Markers for cardiovascular risks are needed in this population. We hypothesized that soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products (sRAGE) and asymmetric dimethyl arginine (ADMA) can correlate with carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT), a known index of subclinical atherosclerosis.

The study included 45 infants of diabetic mother (IDMs) and 45 healthy newborn as a control group. IDMs were then categorized into 2 subgroups: twenty infants of mother with pregestational diabetes and twenty-five infants of mothers with gestational diabetes.

Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is the most common type of SCD and represents the homozygous form, in which the individual inherits a double dose of the abnormal gene that codes for hemoglobin S. This study was done to detect cases of silent and clinically overt strokes in children with sickle cell anemia (SCA) and examine predisposing factors for stroke development.
