Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged in China in late 2019 with high rate of spread and transmission. As there was no recognized therapy many people worldwide used herbs in attempt to help their body overcome the disease.
Objective: This study aims to evaluate the use of herbs by patients with COVID-19 in Sudan and tries to identify a possible role in cure or lowering the severity of the illness.
Thalassemia is one of the most heterogeneous diseases, with more than a thousand mutation types recorded worldwide. Molecular diagnosis of thalassemia by conventional PCR-based DNA analysis is time- and resource-consuming owing to the phenotype variability, disease complexity, and molecular diagnostic test limitations. Moreover, genetic counseling must be backed-up by an extensive diagnosis of the thalassemia-causing phenotype and the possible genetic modifiers.

Liver tissue in the Kotb disease BA is massively damaged by congenital aflatoxicosis resulting in inflammation, adhesions, fibrosis, bile duct proliferation, scarring, cholestasis, focal syncytial giant cell transformation, and typical immune response involving infiltration by CD4+, CD8+, CD68+, CD14+, neutrophil infiltration, neutrophil elastase spill, heavy loads of aflatoxin B1, accelerated cirrhosis, disruption of p53 and GSTPi, and have null glutathione S transferase M1 (GSTM1).

The impact of sustainable digital transformation in universities could be perceived as system and systematic. When the intangible but impactful influence is identified/recognized as a system, an applicable conceptual model could become designable and implementable.

This research paper aims to develop a qualitative model that advocates how digital transformation as a propelling force could be used to build competitive advantages for universities. Building competitive advantage is a relative, evolving, and important concept in strategy formulation.

The purpose of this study was to compare the impact of MPP to conventional biventricular pacing (BiV) using echocardiographic and clinical changes at 6-month post-implant.
Methods: This prospective, randomized study was conducted at 13 Middle Eastern centers.
Introduction And Aim: The interleukin-2 receptor antagonist; basiliximab is used to allow delayed introduction of Calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) after liver transplantation and thus delay their renal insult. However, there is only little evidence for the safety and the efficacy of this regimen. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of basiliximab induction in liver transplantation.

The primary objective of this study was to determine whether chronic pain patients have a positive or negative perception of the physical examination.
Methods: After institutional ethics committee approval, 120 adult patients as a convenience sample who attended a chronic pain clinic were included.
Introduction: The implementation of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines is one of the most effective interventions for improving quality of care. A gap between guidelines and clinical practice often exists, which may result in patients not receiving appropriate care. This project aimed at improving adherence to lung cancer guidelines at our institution.

Differentiation between the isomers and members of a homologous series is a challenge, due to their similar properties. We show that a triazine-based fluorinated AIEgen can recognize dicarboxylic acids with selectivity based on the relative position of the two -COOH groups.

Aim: The aim was to assess the impact of direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy on IR status in chronic HCV patients.
Porous molecular crystals are an emerging class of porous materials that is unique in being built from discrete molecules rather than being polymeric in nature. In this study, we examined the effects of molecular structure of the precursors on the formation of porous solid-state structures with a series of 16 rigid aromatics. The majority of these precursors possess pyrazole groups capable of hydrogen bonding, as well as electron-rich aromatics and electron-poor tetrafluorobenzene rings.

Methods:: This prospective randomized controlled trial was held between February 2016 and April 2017 at Cairo University Hospitals. The study recruited 94 patients with spheno-clinoidal meningiomas without cavernous sinus involvement.

Trigonal fluorinated pyrazoles assemble into porous molecular crystals and show solid-state fluorescence. However, in a DMF/HO mixed solvent system, the triazine-centered compound displays aggregation-induced emission, while its benzene-based counterpart does not.

Materials And Methods: This prospective study was carried out in a neonatal intensive care unit of Cairo University Hospital. Fifty neutropenic premature infants were matched to 50 non-neutropenics.
Objective: This study assessed whether a structured nurse-led diabetes educational program underpinned by the theories of the health belief model, change in locus of control, and patient empowerment is effective in improving glycemic and metabolic parameters among South Asians with type II diabetes compared to regular outpatient care.
Methods: This was a parallel-group randomized trial in South Asian adult patients with type II diabetes living in Qatar. 460 subjects were randomized to a nurse-led, group-based diabetes educational program ( = 230) or to usual care ( = 230).
Empirical analysis on k-mer DNA has been proven as an effective tool in finding unique patterns in DNA sequences which can lead to the discovery of potential sequence motifs. In an extensive study of empirical k-mer DNA on hundreds of organisms, the researchers found unique multi-modal k-mer spectra occur in the genomes of organisms from the tetrapod clade only which includes all mammals. The multi-modality is caused by the formation of the two lowest modes where k-mers under them are referred as the rare k-mers.

Materials And Methods: A total of 12 patients with foot ulcers utilizing natural honey as an effective alternative to more expensive, advanced wound products were followed. Cases were referred to Umgwailinah Primary Health Care Center, Doha, Qatar from different health centers and from Hamad General Hospital, Doha, Qatar.
Introduction: Several hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) staging systems are available. Although the European Association for Study of Liver Diseases (EASL) and American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) recommended the use of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC), many studies in different populations revealed heterogeneous results. The aim of this study was to compare different staging systems for predicting prognosis and survival, and for stratifying HCC patients for treatment at a national referral centre for liver disease in Egypt.

N-Indolyltriethylborate was found to be a useful reagent for dearomatizing C3-alkylation of 3-substituted indoles with both activated and nonactivated alkyl halides to give C3-quaternary indolenines, pyrroloindolines, furoindoline, and hexahydropyridoindoline under mild reaction conditions. The utility of these reagents was demonstrated in the syntheses of a pyrroloindoline-4-cholestene hybrid and debromoflustramine B.
