Background: Psoriasis vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory and proliferative skin disease, characterized by the formation of itchy, erythematous skin patches or plaques. Patients with psoriasis are at an increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome, including obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and atherosclerosis. Oral antifungal therapies are effective for onychomycosis but it was complicated by systemic effects. Effective and safe therapy is needed to improve esthetic appearance of nails. The present study is an attempt to evaluate and compare the efficacy of of combined treatment of onychomycosis with 1,064-nm long-pulsed Nd-Yag laser and pulse itraconazole therapy versus pulse itraconazole alone.

Several cytokines were assumed to play an essential role in the induction and the pathogenesis of psoriasis. The aim of this work was to investigate the role of TNF-α-308 and IL-10-1082 polymorphisms and their serum levels in the pathogenesis of psoriasis and determine their relation to disease severity. 110 Psoriasis patients and 120 healthy volunteers were genotyped for TNF-α-308 and IL-10-1082 polymorphism by polymerase chain reaction.
