Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to explore the impacts of combining resistance and endurance training with walnut consumption on strength, sleep quality, cognitive performance, and balance in active elderly men.
  • - In a controlled experiment with 20 participants, one group consumed walnuts while undergoing the training, and results were measured before and after the intervention.
  • - Findings showed that both groups improved knee strength and sleep quality, but only the walnut group exhibited enhanced cognitive performance and better postural balance, indicating walnuts may provide additional benefits alongside training.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how taking melatonin at night influences cognitive and physical performance the next day, particularly in professional soccer players.
  • - Results showed that melatonin improved sleep quality and led to better performances in tests like handgrip strength, squat jump, and reaction time, alongside decreases in perceived exertion and fatigue.
  • - Despite these benefits, levels of blood lactate and glucose remained unchanged after melatonin ingestion, suggesting specific performance enhancements without affecting these metabolic markers.

Introduction: Ramadan fasting (RF) is characterized by daily abstinence from food and fluid intake from dawn to sunset. The understanding of the Ramadan effects on the diurnal variations of athletic and cognitive performance is crucial for practitioners, coach and researchers to prepare sport events and optimize performance. The aim of the present study was to reveal the effects of RF on the diurnal variation of physical and cognitive performances at rest and after exercise.

Melatonin has been proved to have positive effects on cellular damage and metabolic regulation. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of melatonin supplementation during an intensive training period on physical performance decline, oxidative stress and cellular damage state. The investigation was conducted on 20 soccer players who participated in an exhaustive six-day training schedule associated with daily 5 mg oral melatonin or placebo ingestion.

The BeCs system represents a possible future candidate for the realization of samples of cold or ultra-cold molecular ion species that have not yet been investigated experimentally or theoretically. With the aim of highlighting the spectroscopic and electronic structure of the cesium and beryllium cation BeCs, we theoretically investigate ground and low lying excited states of Σ, Π and Δ symmetries below the first nine asymptotic limits dissociating into Be(2s) + Cs(6s, 6p, 5d) and Be(2s, 2s2p, 2s3s, 2p) + Cs. We used a quantum chemistry approach based on a semi-empirical pseudo potential for Be and Cs cores, core polarization potentials (CPP), large Gaussian basis sets and full configuration interaction (FCI) method for the valence electrons.

While the promotion of the beneficial effects of melatonin (MEL) ingestion on the modulation of oxidative stress is widespread, less attention is given to the biological influence that it could exert on the results of hematology and clinical chemistry parameters. This study was undertaken to assess the effects of acute MEL ingestion on these parameters during a maximal running exercise. In double blind randomized design, 12 professional soccer players [age: 17.

Antioxidant supplementation has become a common practice among athletes to boost sport achievement. Likewise, melatonin (MEL) has been ingested as an ergogenic aid to improve physical performance. To date, no study has checked whether the multiple beneficial effects of MEL have an outcome during a maximum running exercise until exhaustion.

The electronic structure of BeSe and BeTe molecules has been investigated using the CASSCF/(MRCI + Q) method at the spin-free and spin-orbit level. The potential energy curves, the permanent dipole moment, the spectroscopic constants , , ω, and , and the dissociation energy are determined in addition to the vertical transition energy T. The molecules' percentages of ionic character are deduced, and the trends of the spectroscopic constants of the two molecules are compared and justified.

An optimal recovery between training sessions is of similar if not greater importance as the training content and program of the training, itself. One of the most used strategies for improving recovery is the ingestion of supplements. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of 5 mg oral melatonin supplementation on the recovery from repeated sprint (RSA) of performance and biochemical responses (.
