Acute Babesiosis Causing a False-Positive HIV Result: An Unexpected Association.

Babesiosis is a tick-borne condition that causes hemolytic anemia and manifests with flu-like symptoms such as fevers, chills, fatigue, and anorexia. Very few case reports have documented babesiosis infection associated with a false-positive HIV test. In this case report, we add to the current literature by describing a patient admitted for treatment of babesiosis who had a preliminary positive HIV test on admission and a negative repeat HIV test after one week of treatment for babesiosis.

A closed fifth metacarpal neck fracture is a frequently encountered upper limb fracture that occurs when the bone breaks right below the little finger's knuckle. At the moment, there is no agreement on the best way to treat these fractures. This research seeks to look at the efficacy of buddy taping versus reduction and casting for non-operative management of uncomplicated closed fifth metacarpal neck fractures.

Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a disease that affects many around the world and often accounts for frequent hospital admissions every year, secondary to uncontrolled pain. Purpose: Studies of epidemiology, treatment modalities, and outcomes of childhood central nervous system (CNS) tumors in Sudan are scarce. To address this shortcoming, we evaluated baseline information about the epidemiology, treatment types, and outcomes of childhood CNS tumors at the National Cancer Institute, University of Gezira (NCI-UG) in Wad Madani, Sudan.

Methods: We performed a retrospective health facility-based study of children with CNS tumors who were treated at the NCI-UG from January 2000 to December 2015.
