Role of topical vancomycin in reduction of postoperative infections in head trauma patients: A developing country experience.

Background: Postoperative cranial wound infections are a major cause of morbidity, mortality, and financial burden, especially in developing countries.

Methods: We prospectively studied 86 patients in a randomized trial; 39 patients received one gram of topical vancomycin powder in the subgaleal space while 47 matched control patients did not. Both groups received identical intraoperative and post-operative care.

Outcomes of Surgical Management of Metopic Synostosis : A Retrospective Study of 18 Cases.

Objective: To describe the surgical management and postoperative outcomes in infants with metopic synostosis.

Methods: We conducted a 5 years retrospective chart review of patients who underwent surgical correction of metopic synostosis at two university hospitals in Egypt during the period between June 2014 and June 2019. The study is conducted to 18 children.

Outcomes of Chiari Malformation III: A Review of Literature.

Purpose: Chiari malformation type III (CM III) is the rarest type compared to other types of CMs. CM III usually reported as sporadic case reports which reflect the rarity of this anomaly. We report two cases of operated CM III at our institute with a reasonable outcome and reviewed the literature to illustrate the variability of prognosis and related hydrocephalus.

Optimized Neural Network Parameters Using Stochastic Fractal Technique to Compensate Kalman Filter for Power System-Tracking-State Estimation.

Tracking-state estimation uses previous state vector and recent measurement data to give real-time update on the state of the power system noniteratively during the subsequent time sampling. This paper discusses Kalman filtering enhanced by optimized neural network parameters-based stochastic fractals search technique (KF-MLP-based SFS). Both KF gain (mismodeling error) and measurement noise were replaced by optimized multilayer perceptron (MLP-SFS).
