Background: Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is the most serious metabolic complication of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Insulin deficiency and inflammation play a role in the pathogenesis of DKA. The authors aimed to assess the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) as a marker of severity among T1DM patients with DKA and without infection.

Introduction Carbapenem-resistant (CRE) infections have high mortality. We aimed to examine the diabetes mellitus (DM) association with CRE mortality. Methodology Our study is a retrospective cohort study including patients who were admitted to the medical wards in the main district hospital (New Jahra Hospital, Kuwait) between January 1, 2022, and January 1, 2023, and diagnosed with CRE infections during hospitalization.

Background and Objectives: An elevated procalcitonin level has classically been linked to bacterial infections. Data on the association between elevated procalcitonin and the outcome of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are conflicting.
