Optimal ilio-sacral screw trajectory in paediatric patients : a computed tomography study.

Pelvic fixation during procedures performed to treat spinal deformities in paediatric patients remains challenging. No computed tomography studies in paediatric have assessed the optimal trajectory of ilio- sacral screws to prevent screw malposition. We used pelvic computed tomography from 80 children divided into four groups : females <10 and ≥10 years and males <10 and ≥10 years.

The satisfaction of patients hospitalized in the surgical departments of a general hospital. Case study of Sahloul hospital in Sousse (Tunisia).

Objective: Measure the overall and specific satisfaction rates of patients hospitalized in surgical services in Sahloul University Hospital in Sousse during the year 2018.

Methods: The study population was recruited by a quota sample of hospitalized patients in the surgical departments of Sahloul University Hospital in Sousse. Data collection was done via a patient satisfaction questionnaire, administered to outgoing patients.

Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Orthopedic and Trauma Departments in Tunisia.

Objective: Measure the effect of the strategy to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, based on containment, on the practice of orthopedic and trauma surgery in Tunisia.

Methods: This is a comparative study, concerning the impact of Covid-19 on the flow of patients, operated in orthopedic surgery and trauma departments, during the containment period from March 12, 2020 to April 30, 2020, comparing it to the same period of the year 2019, in the Central-East region of Tunisia (Kairouan, Sousse, Mahdia, Monastir).

Results: A significant decrease of 27% in the flow of patients admitted to orthopedic surgery departments in central-eastern Tunisia, during the 2020 containment period, compared to the same period of the previous year was documented.

Randomized controlled trial comparing 400μg sublingual misoprostol versus placebo for prevention of primary postpartum hemorrhage.

Introduction: obstetric hemorrhage is estimated to cause 25% of all maternal deaths and is the leading direct cause of maternal mortality worldwide. The World Health Organization recommended the use of uterotonics that should be offered for all women who will give birth but in some countries or in special situations oxytocin is not available. The goal of this study is to determine whether the 400μg dose of Misoprostol decreases the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) of women who did not show signs of hemorrhage.

COVID-19 and Management of Orthopedic Emergencies. Producing a Consensus of Experts.

Objective: Report the results of a participatory approach in Tunisian orthopedic surgery, for the development of a consensus of experts, on the identification of the list of pathologies to always be considered as non-postponable emergencies, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Material And Methods: This descriptive study of the opinions of Tunisian experts covered all orthopedic morbidities classified into three homogeneous groups: trauma, infections and tumors of the musculoskeletal system. The attitudes of the interviewees were collected using the "Delphi" method, using a "Google-Form" questionnaire, sent by email to all of the Tunisian university orthopedic surgeons in practice, and registered at the SOTCOT.

Septic arthritis of the wrist: about six cases.

The wrist is a rare location of septic arthritis. It often involves patients with preexisting joint disease which symptoms could be confused with infection making the diagnosis more difficult and usually delayed. It is often responsible for residual functional impairment and for a high mortality rate among vulnerable patients.

Outcome of total knee arthroplasty following closing wedge high tibialosteotomy: a review of 40 cases.

Introduction: Total knee replacement after high tibial osteotomy becomes more and more indicated. This intervention needs to identify some pearls and pitfalls.

Aim: To evaluate results of total knee arthroplasty after closing wedge high tibial osteotomy.

Outcome of intramedullary pinning of isolated radial neck fractures in adulthood.

Background: The treatment of radial neck fractures is controversial and typically depends on displacement. Surgical procedures based on open reduction-internal fixation (ORIF) may lead to several complications, such as avascular necrosis of the radial head, nonunion, malunion, and elbow stiffness. Closed reduction with intramedullary pinning of radial neck fractures, which is commonly used in children, is a viable option for these fractures in adults and may allow for a lower complication rate compared with ORIF.
