Purpose: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL) is a controlled grade IV renal trauma and intraoperative bleeding is the most crucial complication. Contemporarily, pulsed mode thulium laser has been reported to confer adequate hemostasis. Therefore, the primary outcome of this study was to assess safety and efficacy of thulium laser-based hemostasis during PNL.

This research introduces novel concepts in sequence theory, including Bessel convergence, Bessel boundedness, Bessel statistical convergence, and Bessel statistical Cauchy sequences. These concepts establish new inclusion relations and related results within mathematical analysis. Additionally, we extend the first and second Korovkin-type approximation theorems by incorporating Bessel statistical convergence, providing a more robust and comprehensive framework than existing results.

Characterization of a productive oil/gas well blowout through seismological methods is relatively uncommon. In this paper, we conduct an in-depth seismic evaluation of one of the world's most significant onshore oil well blowout incidents, which occurred in 2020 at the Baghjan oil field in Assam, northeast India. We show that the blowout and related on-site activities generated distinct signals that can be distinguished by their spectral characteristics, temporal variation in geometric spreading, and sharp attenuation of daytime noise in comparison to the nighttime.

Article Synopsis
  • This research introduces a new method called the conformable-Caputo fractional non-polynomial spline method to solve the time-fractional Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation.
  • The study focuses on improving numerical accuracy and algorithm development, showing that the method is unconditionally stable through Von Neumann analysis.
  • Results from comparisons using graphs and error norms (L2 and L∞) indicate that this new method is more accurate and efficient than previous methods, positioning it as a significant advancement in solving the time-fractional KdV equation.

Background: Femoral neck fractures in children are uncommon, making up little more than 1% of all paediatric fractures. It's not apparent which type of internal fixation-closed or open-is preferable in these situations when it comes to therapeutic options. When treating children with displaced femoral neck fractures, serious problems can arise.

Background: Trans-Urethral Resection of Bladder Tumors (TURBT) is a critical step in diagnosis, staging and treatment of bladder tumors. Conventional TURBT (cTURBT) involves the electro-resection of the tumor into small fragments. This technique leads to concerns about the completeness of resection, under-staging, bleeding, cancer cell implantation, and most importantly, risk of tumour recurrence.

Background: To compare the efficacy and safety of standard percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) with mini- PCNL for kidney stones 2-4 cm.

Methods: Eighty patients were enrolled in a comparative study, they were randomly divided into mini-PCNL group (n = 40) and standard-PCNL (n = 40). Demographic characteristics, perioperative events, complications, stone free rate (SFR) were reported.

Gold mining is an important strategic sector. The search for mineral reserves is moving deeper as more accessible shallow resources are discovered. Geophysical techniques are now being employed more frequently in mineral exploration because they are quick and can provide crucial subsurface information for discovering potential metal deposits, particularly in high-relief and inaccessible places.

Background: Shoulder abduction is an essential movement for placement of the hand in space and thus for upper limb function. The objective of this study was to introduce and test the effectiveness of a new technique of latissimus dorsi tendon transfer to deltoid insertion to restore shoulder abduction.

Methods: We prospectively included 10 male patients with a lost deltoid function.

Different arthroscopic repair techniques have been described for various tear types. Several series have reported successful outcomes for arthroscopic repair of superficial tear of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tears using the outside-in technique. Described techniques entail usage of special instruments for passage of sutures and/or use of many incisions.

The mechanical performance of the Ilizarov system is closely related to the biologic status of the fracture or osteotomy line. The aim of this study was to compare the mechanical performance of 2 different Ilizarov frame configurations. Two different frame models were applied to cow tibiae, 1 with 2 rings only, 1 proximal and another distal, vs the conventional 4 rings, 2 proximal and 2 distal.

Purpose: Two different locking plate designs are now being used for volar plating of the distal radius fractures based on the freedom of screw direction; the fixed-angle, and the variable-angle (polyaxial) plates. We investigated the clinical and radiographic outcomes of both designs.

Methods: We reviewed 96 patients with 113 unstable distal radius fractures that were operated on with volar locking plates.

Optical and photophysical properties of 6-substituted-1,2,4-Triazine fluorescent derivative dye doped in silicate based sol-gel, homopolymer of methyl methacrylate (PMMA), and copolymer (MMA/diethylene glycol dimethacrylate) (DEGDMA) were investigated. The pores of different hosts and caging of the dye were found to effect on the parameters such as molar absorptivity, cross sections of singlet-singlet electronic absorption and emission spectra, excited state lifetime, quantum yield of fluorescence. The dipole moment of electronic transition, the length of attenuation and oscillator strength of electronic transition from So → S1 have been calculated.

Purpose: To compare the clinical outcomes of arthroscopically-assisted suture anchor repair and transosseous sutures for repair of foveal triangular fibrocartilage complex tears in patients with distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) instability.

Methods: Sixty patients with triangular fibrocartilage complex foveal detachment associated with DRUJ instability were prospectively recruited and randomized into 2 equal groups-the anchor repair group and the transosseous repair group. The primary outcome was DRUJ function after 2 years, which was assessed by the DRUJ evaluating system.

Background: Open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) is the gold standard management of fractures of the distal humerus. Stable fixation to allow early mobilization is not always possible in cases with comminuted fracture patterns and bone loss, with a high failure rate. We propose augmentation of internal fixation in these unstable situations with a spanning plate across the elbow to protect the fixation construct temporarily until bone union.

This study aims to histologically compare the median nerve in the arm, forearm, and wrist, to help understand how cervical radiculopathy in a double crush phenomenon causes distal nerve dysfunction at the carpal tunnel and median nerve with concurrent absence of symptoms at the forearm. The study was performed on 12 fresh cadaveric upper limbs free from any injury or operation. Male cadavers in the age range of 35-40 years were used.

This article presents a comprehensive thermomechanical analysis and failure assessment in the drilling of glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites with different thicknesses using a CNC machine and cemented carbide drill with a diameter of 6 mm and point angles of = 118°. The temperature distribution through drilling was measured using two techniques. The first technique was based on contactless measurements using an IR Fluke camera.

This manuscript aims to study the effects of drilling factors on the thermal-mechanical properties and delamination experimentally during the drilling of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP). Drilling studies were carried out using a CNC machine under dry cutting conditions by 6 mm diameter with different point angles of ∅ = 100°, 118°, and 140°. The drill spindle speed (400, 800, 1600 rpm), feed (0.

Sufficient PV flow is necessary to achieve successful PV reconstruction in pediatric LDLT. IOCP can be used to assess the severity of PV stenosis and to identify potential portosystemic collateral pathways. The present study reviewed the utility of IOCP and the outcomes of patients who underwent assessment with an IOCP.
