BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) is a tumor suppressor gene that was first identified in 1998. Germline loss-of-function variants in BAP1 are associated with a tumor predisposition syndrome with at least four cancers: uveal melanoma (UM), malignant mesothelioma (MMe), renal cell carcinoma (RCC), and cutaneous melanoma (CM). Furthermore, somatic BAP1 mutations are important drivers for several cancers most notably UM, MMe, RCC, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Concurrently, many cellular processes are occurring in the neonatal small intestine to prepare it to receive molecular signals from a superfood essential for the neonate's health and development. During the prepartum colostrum secretion, the newborn intestine undergoes transient alterations in the intestinal barrier, primarily regulating immunoglobulin absorption.

The current study aimed to isolate and identify oleaginous yeasts having superior ability to accumulate high quantities of lipids; and enhancing lipid production using response surface methodology and repeated-batch fermentation. Results revealed that, twenty marine oleaginous yeasts were isolated, and the most potent lipid producer isolate was Candida parapsilosis Y19 according to qualitative screening test using Nile-red dye.

Background: This study aimed to assess the histological and radiographic effects of sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) as a direct pulp capping (DPC) agent in immature permanent dog premolars.
Methods: A split-mouth design was employed with three healthy 4-month-old Mongrel dogs, each having 36 premolars. The premolars were randomly assigned to either SHMP or MTA.
The reproductive technology has a significant impact on the development of livestock production. The thyme oil, rich in phytoestrogen chemicals like apigenin, has been found to enhance reproductive performance by mimicking estrogen's action. This study aimed to investigate the effects of oral supplementation with thyme essential oil on the reproductive organ biometry, and reproductive performance in adult and prepubertal Barki ewes.

Colon cancer typically affects older adults, though it can happen at any age. Colon cancer, also known as Caco-2, is caused by multiple epigenetic alterations and involves unregulated proliferation, differentiation, and invasion of neighboring tissues. Colon cancer patients have had surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy.

We introduce a new class of magnetically controlled microscopic robots (microbots) that operate at the visible-light diffraction limit, which we term diffractive robots. We combined nanometer-thick mechanical membranes, programmable nanomagnets, and diffractive optical elements to create untethered microbots small enough to diffract visible light and flexible enough to undergo complex reconfigurations in millitesla-scale magnetic fields.

We fabricated three samples with distinct metal contacts: Platinum (HPS-Pt) and Aluminium/Platinum (HPS-Al/Pt) on high-quality single crystal CVD diamond, and Platinum (VS-Pt) on lower purity single crystal CVD diamond. Our objective was to identify the most suitable sample for synchrotron measurements, particularly focusing on the lower purity sample due to its unique characteristics, such as thin nitrogen lines and substrate area.

The results revealed that water deficit significantly reduced most studied traits. Irrigation level at 60% based on ET exhibited poorest performance on growth parameters and decreased fresh yield and essential oil yield by 27.

Children with thalassemia rely on regular blood transfusions for survival, which places a significant burden on their families and negatively impacts their quality of life (QOL).
Objective: This study aimed to assess QOL from the perspective of parents of thalassemic children in Medina City, Saudi Arabia.
Objective: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignant tumor that mainly arises in the head and neck area. We aimed to compare the long-term survival of patients with ACC based on their geographic regions within the United States using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registry data.
Methods: We queried the SEER database to evaluate the geographic distribution of ACC patients based on inpatient admissions.
Background: Proteoglycans are important tumor microenvironment extracellular matrix components. The regulation of key proteoglycans, such as decorin (DCN), by miRNAs has drawn attention since they have surfaced as novel therapeutic targets in cancer. Accordingly, this study aimed at identifying the impact of miR-181a in liver cancer and its regulatory role on the extracellular matrix proteoglycan, DCN, and hence on downstream oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes.

Here we investigated the motives that underlie support for COVID-19 preventive behaviours in a sample of 12,758 individuals from 34 countries. We hypothesized that the associations of empathic prosocial concern and fear of disease with support towards preventive COVID-19 behaviours would be moderated by trust in the government.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is a prevalent form of malignancy in males and is a significant contributor to cancer-related mortality worldwide. Because of this, studying the molecular processes of PCa cell growth and death is crucial. Hence, it is imperative to conduct further research on the regulatory mechanism underlying the progression of PCa to enhance our comprehension and identify innovative therapeutic targets.

However, evaluating the performance of the pre-breeding-promising parental-lines for water deficit tolerance prior to their incorporation in the breeding program is crucial for the success of the breeding programs. The aim of the current investigation is to assess the performance of a set of pre-breeding lines compared with their parents.

Aim: This study aimed to assess the nutritional adequacy and growth pattern of ASD children aged three to twelve years compared to their healthy developing peers.
Methods: A national comparative, facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted in eight Egyptian governorates on 285 Egyptian children diagnosed with ASD and 224 children who are their relatives as healthy developing peers.
Introduction: Healthcare systems in developing countries faced significant challenges during COVID-19, grappling with limited resources and staffing shortages. Assessment of the impact of pharmaceutical care expertise, particularly in critical care units during the pandemics, in developing countries remains poorly explored. The principal aim of our study was to assess the impact of the Drug and Therapeutics Committee (DTC), comprising clinical pharmacists, on the incidence, types, and severity of medication errors and associated costs in using COVID-19 medications, especially antibiotics.
