Purpose: To report a rare case of pattern dystrophy-like retinal changes in a young β-thalassemia major patient with a very high serum ferritin level.
Methods: Observational case report of a β-thalassemia major patient with bilateral pattern dystrophy-like retinal changes.
Results: An 18-year-old man experienced blurring of vision in both eyes.

This study aims to evaluate the effect of citicoline administration in suppressing retinal damage due to methanol intoxication. This study hypothesizes that citicoline will minimize the loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs), minimize disruption of photoreceptors, suppress ganglion layer edema, increase expression of bcl-2 as the antiapoptotic protein, and decrease expression of caspase-3 as the proapoptotic protein. Fifteen Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 5 groups, including the control group (A); methanol groups, observed on day 3 (B1) and day 7 (B2); and methanol+citicoline groups, observed on day 3 (C1) and day 7 (C2).

Purpose: To investigate retinal changes in β-thalassemia major patients and identify their association with systemic risk factors.
Methods: In this prospective study, 120 β-thalassemia major patients received complete ophthalmic examinations (best-corrected visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, color vision, and indirect ophthalmoscopy) and retinal imaging using color fundus photography and fundus autofluorescence imaging. Patients were grouped according to the presence of thalassemia-related retinal changes.
This research paper provides for the identification of dry bulk terminal efficiencies on the basis of 10 key performance factors in Malaysian ports. Data were collected from 18 dry bulk ports in Malaysia in 2017 through an online questionnaire and distributed via e-mail. The dispersion of the respondents corresponds approximately to the structure of the Malaysian maritime terminal in dry bulk.
