Study Design: Retrospective study.
Objective: To assess the feasibility and outcome of rapid recovery protocol (RRP) in severe adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients with Cobb angle ≥90 degrees underwent single-staged posterior spinal fusion (PSF).
Summary Of Background Data: Corrective surgeries in severe AIS patients entail a higher risk of prolonged operation, excessive bleeding, extended hospital stay, and higher complication rates compared with non-severe AIS patients.
Background And Objectives: The most common cause of severe foodborne salmonellosis is Typhimurium. Its interaction with intestinal epithelial cells is little known. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were recognized as a prominent probiotic gastrointestinal microbiota of humans and animals that confer health-promoting and protective effects.

Methods: Cell viability was tested on human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (HPLFs) using 3.125 mg/ml, 6.
Although Luc's abscess represents a rare complication of otitis media, it is an important complication to be considered by clinicians, by which infection spreads from the middle ear and can result in subperiosteal collection beneath the temporal muscle. Because of its rare occurrence, the diagnosis and treatment might be delayed. Here, we report the case of a 48-year-old female with Luc's abscess with the involvement of the mastoid bone and discuss its clinical presentation and successful management.

Current treatments for COPD are symptomatic and hampered by limited efficacy and severe side effects. This highlights the need to search for an optimal therapeutic candidate to address the root causes of these conditions.

There is potential to use the hispidulin-rich fraction of sesewanua (HRFS) as a new antithrombotic. The oral route limitation of hispidulin, as a low water solubility and non-polar compound, can be addressed.

A literature search was conducted using three databases: Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed from May to June 2024. The articles were screened, and the data were extracted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines (2020).

Specifically, it examines whether digital finance effectively contributes reducing CO emissions in these nations.
Methods: This paper is a quantitative study which employs the IV-GMM (instrumental variable generalized methods of moment) approach that tackles any potential endogeneity.
In recent years, live streaming commerce (LSC) has become a popular research topic. However, current studies on LSC are relatively insufficient, and analyses have generally focused on its specific aspects, lacking a comprehensive and systematic perspective. Hence, this study utilises CiteSpace to undertake a visual bibliometric analysis aimed at delineating the knowledge framework and evolution of LSC and indicates future research directions to provide a comprehensive picture of the development of this dynamic field over the past six years.

Atherosclerosis is a chronic disease in which plaques, made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances, build up on the inner walls of arteries. Recently, there has been growing interest in finding reliable biomarkers to understand the pathogenesis and progression of atherosclerosis.

These tumours can be classified as either low-grade or high-grade, depending on their aggressiveness and rate of growth. We report a case of homonymous hemianopia secondary to an intra-axial cortical-based tumour in a young patient.

Background: Radiation-induced changes (RICs) post-stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) critically influence outcomes in arteriovenous malformation (AVM) treatments. This study aimed to identify predictors of RICs, described the types and severity of RICs, and assessed their impact on patient's functional outcomes to enhance risk assessment and treatment planning for AVM patients.
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 87 AVM patients who underwent SRS at Hospital Kuala Lumpur between January 2015 and December 2020.
In recent years, loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) has gained popularity for detecting various pathogen-specific genes due to its superior sensitivity and specificity compared to conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The simplicity and flexibility of naked-eye detection of the amplicon make LAMP an ideal rapid and straightforward diagnostic tool, especially in resource-limited laboratories. Colorimetric detection is one of the simplest and most straightforward among all detection methods.

The leaves of have been used for inflammation-related disease management in traditional medicine. Additionally, the downregulation of NF-κB and the MMP/TIMP-1 ratio has been shown to protect against OA.

However, the effectiveness of oxy-ionic solutions at different pH levels as an alternative antimicrobial treatment requires further exploration. This study aims to compare the antimicrobial effects of oxy-ionic solutions at various pH levels with those of CHX and fluoride.

The majority of these clinical observations are typically linked to infections caused by bacteria, parasites, or viruses. We report a case of dual infections in neuroretinitis complicated with severe macular edema.

Large capacitive loading of electrodes induces massive error current and imperfect settling in the electrochemical signal acquisition process, leading to inaccurate acquisition results. To efficiently mitigate this inaccuracy, this paper presents a current-and-voltage dual-mode acquisition technique in which a voltage front-end (VFE) is employed to acquire the electrode voltage error and compensate the nonlinearity induced by the electrode capacitive loading. Therefore, the gain and bandwidth requirements of the current front end (CFE) can be relaxed to reduce the complexity and power consumption.

Experimenting parameters that affect the extraction efficiency of IBP, such as pH of the sample solution, sorbent dosage, extraction time, ionic strength, volume of the sample, type of desorption solvent, desorption time, and desorption volume, were studied and optimized in detail. The characterization studies for the MNP-TW were carried out by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction spectrometry (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTobacco smoking is a leading cause of preventable mortality, and it is the major contributor to diseases such as COPD and lung cancer. Cigarette smoke compromises the pulmonary antiviral immune response, increasing susceptibility to viral infections. There is currently no therapy that specifically addresses the problem of impaired antiviral response in cigarette smokers and COPD patients, highlighting the necessity to develop novel treatment strategies.
