Background: Gentiana floribunda was investigated for the possible hypotensive and vasodilator activities in an attempt to rationalize its traditional use in hypertension.
Methods: The crude extract of Gentiana floribunda (Gf.Cr) was studied in anaesthetized rats and isolated thoracic aorta tissues.
This study describes the vasorelaxant potential of some pure compounds isolated from Phlomis bracteosa L. marrubiin, phlomeoic acid, and two new constituents labeled as RA and RB. In rat thoracic aortic rings denuded of endothelium, marrubiin, phlomeoic acid, RA, and RB caused relaxation of high K(+) (80 mM) and phenylephrine (1 μM)-induced contractions at the concentration range of 1.

Compound 1 inhibited violacein production by Chromobacterium violaceum CV026 when grown in the presence of a cognate signaling molecule, N-3-oxohexanoyl-homoserine lactone. Furthermore, 1 inhibited the quorum sensing-regulated pyocyanin production and biofilm formation in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA high molecular weight serine protease has been purified to electrophoretic homogeneity from the seeds of Caesalpinia bonducella Flem. (Caesalpiniaceae) by the combination of size exclusion and ion exchange chromatography. About 524 fold purification was achieved with an overall recovery of 6.
