Blood stream infection (BSI) is of the most devastating infection of any hospital which has a high mortality. Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-negative staphylococci (CONS) and enterococcus species are commonest isolated bacteria. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted at the Sylhet Women's Medical College Hospital from October 2022 to March 2023.

Article Synopsis
  • The Letter reports the most accurate measurement so far of the matter-antimatter imbalance during Pb-Pb collisions at a high energy level of 5.02 TeV.
  • It utilizes the Statistical Hadronization framework to determine precise values for the electric charge and baryon chemical potentials, μ_{Q} and μ_{B}.
  • The analysis of antiparticle-to-particle yield ratios shows that the collisions create a system that is generally baryon-free and electrically neutral at midrapidity.

The ALICE Collaboration reports the measurement of semi-inclusive distributions of charged-particle jets recoiling from a high transverse momentum (high p_{T}) hadron trigger in proton-proton and central Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV. A data-driven statistical method is used to mitigate the large uncorrelated background in central Pb-Pb collisions.

K^{+}K^{-} pairs may be produced in photonuclear collisions, either from the decays of photoproduced ϕ(1020) mesons or directly as nonresonant K^{+}K^{-} pairs. Measurements of K^{+}K^{-} photoproduction probe the couplings between the ϕ(1020) and charged kaons with photons and nuclear targets. The kaon-proton scattering occurs at energies far above those available elsewhere.

Article Synopsis
  • - This Letter discusses the measurement of ridge yields from charged hadron angular correlations in proton-proton collisions at a high energy of 13 TeV, specifically within certain pseudorapidity and transverse momentum ranges.
  • - The research extends ridge yield measurements to low charged-particle multiplicity regions, where typically a strong interacting medium is not expected to form during collisions.
  • - Findings indicate that ridge yields in pp collisions are significantly higher than those observed in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, suggesting that processes in e^{+}e^{-} annihilations do not significantly influence long-range correlations in proton-proton interactions.

Article Synopsis
  • The ALICE detector measured the cross section for incoherent photonuclear production of J/ψ vector mesons, focusing on the Mandelstam |t| variable, during ultraperipheral collisions of Pb nuclei at a very high energy of 5.02 TeV.
  • The measurement was conducted within a rapidity interval of |y|<0.8 and covers a specific range of Bjorken-x values.
  • Analysis showed that models without quantum fluctuations in the gluon density predicted a much steeper |t|-dependence than observed, but including these fluctuations improved the models' alignment with the data.

Case: Bohring-Opitz syndrome is characterized by facial dysmorphism, intellectual disability, specific upper-limb posturing, and developmental delay. We report a case of 14-year-old girl with bilateral hip pain and loss of mobility. Clinical exome sequencing showed a proband with a heterozygous pathogenic nonsense variant in ASXL1 gene.

Objective: to conduct a comparative analysis of the incidence of malignant oncohematological diseases structure among the population of the 4 most ecologically disadvantaged cities of the Dnipropetrovsk region, taking into account the possible influence of various adverse environmental factors (radiation and chemical pollution of air, water and soil) for the period 2006-2017.

Materials And Methods: 1948 cases of acute myeloblastic and lymphoblastic leukemia, chronic myeloid and lymphocytic leukemia in residents of 4 cities of the Dnipropetrovsk region were analyzed, taking into account the possible influence of adverse environmental factors (radiation, air pollution, etc.).

gene variants lead to a severe type of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) attributed to defects in the matrix mineralization. We present 18 patients with gene variants leading to severe progressive deforming OI, the largest series in the world to date. These patients were normal at birth and had the first fracture between 2 months to 9 years; progression of deformities was seen in 12 adolescents who became nonambulatory.

The identification of tissue-specific promoters for gene therapeutic constructs is one of the aims of complex tumor therapy. The genes encoding the fibroblast activation protein () and the connective tissue growth factor () can function in tumor-associated stromal cells but are practically inactive in normal adult cells. Accordingly, the promoters of these genes can be used to develop vectors targeted to the tumor microenvironment.

LF3872 was isolated from the milk of a healthy lactating and breastfeeding woman. Earlier, the genome of LF3872 was sequenced, and a gene encoding unique bacteriocin was discovered. We have shown here that the LF3872 strain produces a novel thermolabile class III bacteriolysin (BLF3872), exhibiting antimicrobial activity against antibiotic-resistant strains.

Sudden cardiac arrest out-side hospital is serious global concern. If non-medical people are taught to initiate the basic life support (BLS) training with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) then the mortality could be reduced significantly. This was a non-randomized controlled study to evaluate clinical skills laboratory (CSL) as teaching tool for basic life support (BLS) training in comparison to traditional lecture.

We have presented a brief literature overview of the disease, supported by a clinical case of multiple acute posterior circulation strokes with lesions in the pons and both hemispheres of the cerebellum associated with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome in a white young European adult in Ukraine. Specific features of posterior circulation stroke associated with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome were determined, analyzed, and described. Complex posterior circulation cerebral infarction in the pons and both hemispheres of the cerebellum associated with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome has not been reported before but has devastating consequences for both mother and fetus.

In the fall of 2020, a long-lasting and massive harmful algal bloom (HAB) with extensive fields of yellow sea foam was observed in relatively cold waters (7-13 °C) off the coasts of the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia. According to the estimates based on bio-optical parameters in satellite imagery, the Kamchatka bloom 2020 lasted for two months and covered a vast area of more than 300 × 100 km. An abundance of dead fish and invertebrates, including sea urchins, sea anemones, chitons, cephalopods, bivalves were found on shore during the bloom.

Children under five depend on the caregivers to provide them with nutritious food to combat malnutrition. Several studies have been conducted about malnutrition in children, yet limited attention has been paid to the caregivers. Thus, the study investigated the perceptions of caregivers with regard to non-nutritious foods in rural areas in South Africa.

Article Synopsis
  • Strain LF3872, isolated from breast milk, produces a unique bacteriocin (BLF3872) that disrupts cell walls of harmful bacteria.
  • Research shows LF3872 is effective against antibiotic-resistant Gram-positive pathogens but less so against Gram-negative ones, while also significantly aggregating Gram-negative pathogens.
  • LF3872 has immunoregulatory effects, influencing proinflammatory cytokine production and demonstrates potential for developing synbiotics to combat antibiotic resistance in infections.

The aim of the study was to develop amphiphilic poly(-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) nanoparticles (NPs) loaded with DNA plasmids encoding Gn and Gc glycoproteins of the Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) and to study the humoral response . DNA plasmids were protected from extracellular nucleases by loading in NPs from PVP derivatives modified with amino acids β-alanine (Ala7-PVPOD4000) or glycine (Gly7.5-PVP-OD4000) fabricated by the original self-assembly technique.
