Obsessive-compulsive disorder, major depressive disorder, and addiction: the vicious relationship.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) are prevalent psychiatric conditions, each affecting a substantial portion of the global population. When these conditions coexist with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD), the complexity of the clinical presentation is heightened. Herein, we describe two cases of individuals who have comorbid OCD and/or MDD and substance use disorder that highlight the importance of addressing the coexisting psychiatric illness when treating the SUD.

Evaluation of Relation between HbA1c Level with Cognitive Disorders and Depression in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients.

Background: The role of HbA1c level in cognition decline and depression in type 2 diabetic patients is reported in some studies.

Aim: We evaluated the possible significant relationship between HbA1c level and cognition decline and depression in type 2 diabetic patients.

Epidemiological Trend of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in an Endemic Focus Disease During 2009-2016, Central Iran.

Objective: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is one of the common parasitic diseases in tropical and subtropical areas and is one of the important health problems in Iran. In order to investigate epidemiological aspects of CL disease in city of Aran va Bidgol in Isfahan province, this study was carried out in this central region of Iran.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in over a period of eight years between 2009-2016.

In this study, epidemiological aspects of CL were studied during an 8-year period (2009-2016) in city of Kashan, central Iran. The demographic and epidemiological data, including age, sex, occupation, number and site of the lesions, treatment regimen, past history of CL, and season of all patients were gathered from the health centers.

Eyelid Cutaneous Leishmaniasis: A Case Report.

Tamoxifen Induces Apoptosis of Leishmania major Promastigotes in Vitro.

Tamoxifen is an antagonist of the estrogen receptor and currently used for the treatment of breast cancer. The current treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis with pentavalent antimony compounds is not satisfactory. Therefore, in this study, due to its antileishmanial activity, effects of tamoxifen on the growth of promastigotes and amastigotes of Leishmania major Iranian strain were evaluated in vitro.
