Giant Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma: A Rare Surgical Occurrence.

Retroperitoneal liposarcoma is a rare malignancy that arises from adipocytes and can expand significantly before manifesting clinical symptoms. Instances of giant retroperitoneal liposarcoma, defined as tumors larger than 30 cm, are extremely rare, with fewer than 20 reported cases. This case report presents a 68-year-old patient with a significant abdominal mass, ultimately identified and treated as a well-differentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma.

Mechanistic investigation of sustainable heme-inspired biocatalytic synthesis of cyclopropanes for challenging substrates.

Engineered heme proteins exhibit excellent sustainable catalytic carbene transfer reactivities toward olefins for value-added cyclopropanes. However, unactivated and electron-deficient olefins remain challenging in such reactions. To help design efficient heme-inspired biocatalysts for these difficult situations, a systematic quantum chemical mechanistic study was performed to investigate effects of olefin substituents, non-native amino acid axial ligands, and natural and non-natural macrocycles with the widely used ethyl diazoacetate.

Small-Cell Carcinoma of the Gall Bladder: A Rare Tumor of the Gall Bladder.

Small-cell carcinoma (SCC) of the gallbladder is a rare and distinctive clinicopathological entity, characterized by its aggressive nature with early metastasis and a poor prognosis. We present a rare case of a 53-year-old female who came with a perforated gall bladder and was later diagnosed with SCC. This report details how the patient was managed preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively.

Insidious Mass Within a Sinus.

A 75-year-old patient was incidentally found to have an intracardiac mass by echocardiography. Subsequent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and cardiac positron emission tomography confirmed a large and possibly malignant mass extending from the right atrium into the coronary sinus. The patient underwent an intracardiac echocardiography guided biopsy, which revealed diffuse B-cell lymphoma, and is currently undergoing rituximab, etoposide, vincristine, cyclophosphamide, and doxorubicin (R-EPOCH)-based chemotherapy.

Comparison of pathological response of standard chemoradiotherapy versus short course radiotherapy in rectal carcinoma: A pilot study.

Introduction: Neoadjuvant chemoradiation (CRT) is standard of care for locally advanced rectal cancer. However short course radiotherapy (SCRT) was developed for the benefit of a shorter treatment duration and early surgical intervention which also helped in reducing the case burden to the hospital. SCRT is routinely practised in European countries, Indian experience with the SCRT is limited and hence a pilot study was conducted to compare the morphological difference and pathological response between SCRT and CRT.
