Background: Individuals with childhood-onset neurologic conditions often face challenges in the pediatric-to-adult health care transition (HCT). Furthermore, the importance of implementing primary care is unrecognized. We investigated the situation of adults with childhood-onset neurologic conditions from the perspective of health care professionals (HCPs) in community- and hospital-based primary care practice.

[Risk Factor of Cutaneous Symptoms Associated with Enfortumab Vedotin for Urothelial Carcinoma].

In 2021, Enfortumab Vedotin (EV) was approved for the treatment of locally advanced and metastatic urothelial carcinoma (UC) in Japan. Some patients require withdrawal or dose reduction due to cutaneous symptoms associated with EV treatment. Currently, the only reported associations of EV with cutaneous symptoms are pre-treatment performance status (PS) and body weight.

Theoretical and data-driven approaches to semiconductors and dielectrics: from prediction to experiment.

Computational approaches using theoretical calculations and data scientific methods have become increasingly important in materials science and technology, with the development of relevant methodologies and algorithms, the availability of large materials data, and the enhancement of computer performance. As reviewed herein, we have developed computational methods for the design and prediction of inorganic materials with a particular focus on the exploration of semiconductors and dielectrics. High-throughput first-principles calculations are used to systematically and accurately predict the local atomic and electronic structures of polarons, point defects, surfaces, and interfaces, as well as bulk fundamental properties.

The Dementia Screening Questionnaire for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (DSQIID) is an appropriate screening tool for detecting dementia in Down's syndrome patients. However, whether this questionnaire reflects the neuropsychiatric signs of biomarker-confirmed Alzheimer's disease in DS (DS-AD) remains unknown. To address this issue, we compared the plasma phosphorylated tau (P181tau: p-tau) level of a representative AD biomarker with the total score and each sub-score of the DSQIID.

Development of a new genotype-phenotype linked antibody screening system.

Antibodies are powerful tools for the therapy and diagnosis of various diseases. In addition to conventional hybridoma-based screening, recombinant antibody-based screening has become a common choice; however, its application is hampered by two factors: (1) screening starts after Ig gene cloning and recombinant antibody production only, and (2) the antibody is composed of paired chains, heavy and light, commonly expressed by two independent expression vectors. Here, we introduce a method for the rapid screening of recombinant monoclonal antibodies by establishing a Golden Gate-based dual-expression vector and in-vivo expression of membrane-bound antibodies.

[Initiatives for supporting the health care transition in various regions: activities of transitional care support centers].

The Japanese Society of Neurology's Special Committee on Measures for Transition from Pediatric to Adult Health Care held a workshop to discuss the activities of the transitional care support centers (TCSCs). The following points were addressed: (1) from Kanagawa Prefecture, the activities of the TCSC, which is set up alongside the Intractable Disease Consultation Support Center and the Intractable Disease Information Coordination Center, separated from medical institutions, and the efforts addressing cases of difficult transitions and consultations where patients cannot transition from specific pediatric chronic diseases to designated intractable diseases; (2) from Nagano Prefecture, the supporting the health care transition undertaken by the neurologist as intractable disease medical coordinator, and (3) the efforts of the transitional health care support coordinator at the TCSC established at the university hospital in collaboration with the Nagano Children's Hospital and the government. For the creation of a seamless support system, we hope that the pioneering activities reported at this time will spread nationwide.

Postoperative Karnofsky performance status prediction in patients with IDH wild-type glioblastoma: A multimodal approach integrating clinical and deep imaging features.

Background And Purpose: Glioblastoma is a highly aggressive brain tumor with limited survival that poses challenges in predicting patient outcomes. The Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) score is a valuable tool for assessing patient functionality and contributes to the stratification of patients with poor prognoses. This study aimed to develop a 6-month postoperative KPS prediction model by combining clinical data with deep learning-based image features from pre- and postoperative MRI scans, offering enhanced personalized care for glioblastoma patients.

Background: In April 2020, Japan's revised Health Promotion Act (HPA) banned cigarette smoking and heated tobacco products (HTP) use in indoor public places but exempted small establishments and permitted smoking-designated/HTP-designated rooms. This pre-post study evaluated the effectiveness of the HPA.

Methods: Data were from waves 1 to 4 (2018-2021) of the International Tobacco Control Japan Surveys among a national cohort of adults who smoke cigarettes, use HTPs and do not use any tobacco products.

p53-armed oncolytic virotherapy induces abscopal effect in osteosarcoma by promoting immunogenic cell death.

Osteosarcoma (OS), the most frequent primary malignant tumor of bone in children and adolescents, is refractory to immune checkpoint inhibitors due to its poor antitumor immune response. Chemotherapy and virotherapy induce immunogenic cell death (ICD) and antitumor immune responses, leading to the abscopal effect in untreated tumors. We previously demonstrated the antitumor activity of the telomerase-specific replication-competent oncolytic adenoviruses OBP-301 and p53-armed OBP-702 in human OS cells.

Utility of catheter-shaping using mixed-reality devices in cerebral aneurysm coil embolization.

Background: Catheter shaping is vital in cerebral aneurysm coil embolization; however, understanding three-dimensional (3D) vascular structures on two-dimensional screens is challenging. Although 3D-printed vascular models are helpful, they demand time, effort, and sterility. This study explores whether mixed-reality (MR) devices displaying 3D computer graphics (3D-CG) can address these issues.

Dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (-DNP) has enabled applications such as the real-time monitoring of chemical reactions.
