Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), formerly nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) are prevalent chronic conditions with escalating global incidence. This study delves into the intricate interplay between MASLD and GERD. The primary objective is to comprehensively explore the association between MASLD and GERD, investigating how various factors contribute to the coexistence and potential exacerbation of these conditions.

Background: Traumatic intestinal perforation by foreign bodies is rare, with cases involving live fish being exceedingly uncommon, with only one reported case to date. We present a unique case of a 55-year-old fisherman who presented to the Emergency Department with traumatic intestinal perforation due to an eel fish accidentally entering his rectum. Despite initial reluctance to seek medical attention, prompt intervention was crucial to addressing peritonitis.

Analyzing confocal microscopic data of biological samples using the Imaris software poses challenges due to its time-consuming nature involving tedious multiple steps and possibility of human errors. Here, we developed a supervised automation protocol to minimize manual input in cell and spot counting on confocal images obtained from mouse cochlear sections. The protocol increases efficiency by incorporating image recognition and object-oriented macros.

A 17-year-old girl with a congenital, painless right forehead swelling obstructing her visual field was diagnosed with sinus pericranii. Radiological imaging confirmed extracalvarial arteriovenous malformation with serpentine vessels and bony erosion. Endovascular surgery was chosen for management, highlighting the necessity of considering SP in differential diagnosis for scalp swellings.

We present here a case of multidisciplinary management of a 20-year-old pregnant woman who presented with sudden paraplegia attributed to a large paraspinal tumor. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed compressive dorsal myelopathy due to an extramedullary tumor. Given the urgency of her symptoms and pregnancy status, a multidisciplinary team decided to proceed with surgery while avoiding radiation exposure (eg, O/C-arm).

Introduction: Subdural haematoma (SDH) is a common neurosurgical condition after head trauma requiring evacuation to prevent secondary brain injury. The first choice of management in these patients is a large craniotomy or burr-hole evacuation. However, sometimes due to lack vision during drain tube insertion or irrigation the authors might land up in a complication like cortical bridging vein rupture, haemorrhage etc.

Introduction And Importance: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and various vaccines against it have been developed. Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a disease of the central nervous system that cause inflammation and demyelination and manifests as a multi-symptom acute neurological condition. Although infections are usually the cause of ADEM, vaccines may cause 5-10% of cases.

Article Synopsis
  • Lhermitte-Duclos Disease (LDD) is a benign brain condition linked to Cowden syndrome (CS), which is caused by mutations in the PTEN gene and is associated with tumor growth.
  • A case study describes a young woman who experienced severe headaches, vertigo, and other symptoms. After imaging revealed a lesion in her brain, she underwent surgery, which led to recovery and a diagnosis of LDD.
  • Due to the lack of genetic testing in her country, a clinical scoring system indicated a high likelihood of a PTEN mutation, allowing for family counseling and necessary future monitoring for potential cancer development.

Optical coherence tomography is a micrometer-scale imaging modality that permits label-free, cross-sectional imaging of biological tissue microstructure using tissue backscattering properties. After its invention in the 1990s, OCT is now being widely used in several branches of neuroscience as well as other fields of biomedical science. This review study reports an overview of OCT's applications in several branches or subbranches of neuroscience such as neuroimaging, neurology, neurosurgery, neuropathology, and neuroembryology.
