Infections originating from pathogenic microorganisms can significantly impede the natural wound-healing process. To address this obstacle, innovative bio-active nanomaterials have been developed to enhance antibacterial capabilities. This study focuses on the preparation of nanocomposites from thermally reduced graphene oxide and zinc oxide (TRGO/ZnO).

There is an urgent requirement for the development of sensitive and quick sensors to monitor chromium (VI) due to its substantial carcinogenic and mutagenic properties. A coexisting system of coumarin 334 and diphenylcarbazide (C334/DPC) was used in this study as a fluorescent chemosensor to detect Cr(VI) ions. Upon the addition of Cr(VI), a purple chelate complex (Cr(III)-diphenylcarbazone) was produced, which resulted from the quantitative reaction between Cr(VI) ions and diphenylcarbazide (DPC), whereas no interaction between Cr(VI) and coumarin 334 took place.

The commercial polyurethane foam was acid modified to get an inexpensive adsorbent (AM-PUF) has highly surface polarity and sorption capacity. The elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy, thermal analysis, ultraviolet/visible/infrared spectroscopies and X-ray diffraction were used for characterization of AM-PUF. The surface of AM-PUF has amorphous character (broadband at 2θ, 21.

In this work, a new type of sorbent (polyhydroxyl-polyurethane foam or PPF) was synthesized by using water hydrolysis of polyurethanediazonium chloride salt. PPF was characterized using different tools (infrared spectra, elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis). It was tested for the extraction of atrazine, prometryn and terbutryn herbicides from environmental samples.

This foam material was found to be very suitable for the extraction of metal ions from aqueous solutions. The characterization of Nile blue A grafted foam and the effect of halide concentration, pH, shaking time, extraction isotherm and capacity have been investigated.

The IDA-PUF was characterized using infrared spectra, elemental and thermal analysis. The exchange properties and chromatographic behaviour of the new chelating resin were investigated for removal of some alkali metal ions (lithium, sodium and potassium) using batch and column processes.

PUFIX was characterized using different tools (IR spectra, elemental analysis, density and thermal analysis). The sorption properties of the new anion exchanger (PUFIX) and chromatographic behaviour for separation and determination of palladium(II) ions at low concentrations from aqueous iodide or thiocyanate media were investigated by a batch and dynamic processes.
