Karst reservoirs can significantly enhance the effect of biological carbon pump (BCP), a crucial process for carbon sequestration, water purification, and eutrophication mitigation. However, the effects of BCP on the fate of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) and its role in regulating eutrophication within river-reservoir systems, remains insufficiently understood, particularly across different geological settings. We investigated the Hongfeng Reservoir (HFR), a typical karst reservoir, analyzing water chemistry, nutrient concentrations, and stable isotopes of dissolved inorganic carbon (δC) and nitrate (δN-NO) to uncover the underlying mechanisms governing the migration of biogenic elements and the process of eutrophication.

Accurate counting of Amorphophallus konjac (Konjac) plants can offer valuable insights for agricultural management and yield prediction. While current studies have primarily focused on detecting and counting crop plants during the early stages of low coverage, there is limited investigation into the later stages of high coverage, which could impact the accuracy of forecasting yield. High canopy coverage and severe occlusion in later stages pose significant challenges for plant detection and counting.

Single-cell transcriptomic studies have identified distinct microglial subpopulations with shared and divergent gene signatures across development, aging and disease. Whether these microglial subsets represent ontogenically separate lineages of cells, or they are manifestations of plastic changes of microglial states downstream of some converging signals is unknown. Furthermore, despite the well-established role of enhancer landscapes underlying the identity of microglia, to what extent histone modifications and DNA methylation regulate microglial state switches at enhancers have not been defined.

To better adapt lithium-oxygen batteries (LOBs) and overcome their sluggish oxygen reduction and evolution reactions (ORR/OER) kinetics, designing efficient bifunctional ORR/OER catalytic materials is essential. In this study, we successfully constructed a bifunctional ZnCo-N/C@MoS catalyst by tailoring the Co-N/C center with Zn incorporation and MoS encapsulation. Surprisingly, Zn atoms, which are typically considered to promote the Co atoms isolation, exhibit a promoting effect on the ORR performance of Co-N/C centers and enhance their stability under harsh conditions.
