Geochemical, mineralogical records, and statistical approaches in establishing sedimentary in the environment of a Mediterranean coastal system: case of Sebkha El-Guettiate (southeastern Tunisia).

The current study was conducted within the context of the Holocene era in Sebkha El-Guettiate, located in southeastern Tunisia. The aim was to determine the factors influencing the geochemical and mineralogical composition of sediments and to elucidate the sedimentary characteristics of the Holocene within the Sebkha core. We examined a sediment core extending 100 cm from this Sebkha, subjecting it to comprehensive analysis to uncover its sedimentological, mineralogical, and geochemical properties.

[Ocular lesions after bee sting of the cornea. A case report].

Bee stings of the cornea are rarely reported but can potentially cause serious ophthalmologic injuries. Locally, damage occurs through toxic and immunologic reactions and from the stinger retained in the cornea. Early recognition of the possible complications and appropriate treatment may help to prevent permanent loss of vision.

[Therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty in herpes infected eye].

Purpose: To report the clinical results, the postoperative course and the complications observed after therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty in herpetic keratitis.

Methods: Eleven eyes with herpetic keratitis (11 patients) that underwent therapeutic keratoplasty between September 2002 and September 2008 were included in this study. The eyes were evaluated retrospectively with respect to the anatomic success rate, the graft clarity, the visual prognosis and the postoperative complications.

[Therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty: indications and results in Tunisia].

Purpose: To report the experience of the Tunis Institute of Ophthalmology (Tunisia) in therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 35 patients after therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty over a period of 6 years (between September 2002 and September 2008).

Results: The mean patient age was 49.

[Severe infectious keratitis in renal transplant patient: a case report].

Keratitis occurring in renal transplant patients are often severe, with difficult management. We describe the case of a renal transplant patient, 44 year-old man, with history of recurrent herpetic keratitis, which developed an impending corneal perforation. Conjunctival smear showed the presence of amoebic cysts.

Granular cell tumour of the perianal region: which therapeutic attitude?

Granular cell tumours are uncommon soft tissue tumours that could be located anywhere throughout the body. Most of time they are benign but the diagnosis of malignancy is difficult to establish on histology: this is why the therapeutic decision is not easy to take in particular for some locations. We report the case of a 18-year old man: he presented, in the perianal region, a granular cell tumour of uncertain malignant potential (so far the first case described in the literature) for which we decided a conservative surgical treatment that failed.
