The aim of this study was to evaluate the inter- and intra-observer variability and accuracy of ultrasound assessment of thyroid nodules using a descriptive lexicon. A prospective study was performed on complete ultrasound examinations, including sonoelastography and color Doppler ultrasound of 18 patients with 20 thyroid nodules. A total of 20 records of thyroid nodules from these techniques were duplicated, numbered, and randomly arranged.

The study investigated whether the application of dressings with autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) would reduce the healing time in patients with chronic venous leg ulcers. This is a prospective observational study that included 100 patients diagnosed with lower extremity venous insufficiency complicated by ulceration of a leg or foot, who had been after angioplasty of stenotic artery. Patients were divided into two groups of 50 each: treated with PRP (study group) and treated with conventional hydrocolloid dressings (control group).

Numerous TIRADS (Thyroid Image Reporting and Data System) classifications have been developed, and various ultrasound (US) parameters are employed in different countries. The aim of our study was to introduce risk classification and management in a native population based on the Guidelines of Polish National Societies Diagnostics and Treatment of Thyroid Carcinoma but with the addition of sonoelastography. We examined prospectively 208 patients with 305 thyroid lesions employing B-mode ultrasound and sonoelastography (SE).

Introduction: It has been demonstrated that plasma growth factor (PGF) responsible for proliferation of smooth muscle cells and fibroblasts significantly shortens treatment duration.

Aim: To determine the role of human growth factor in the healing of ulcers due to ischaemic diabetic foot syndrome (DFS) following previous angioplasty of the blood vessels of the lower leg and foot.

Material And Methods: The study group included 50 patients with ischaemic diabetic foot complicated by lower leg ulcers in which angioplasty of the stenotic arteries in the distal lower leg and foot was performed.

The aims of our study were to determine whether shear wave elastography (SWE) can improve the conventional B-mode differentiation of thyroid lesions, determine the most accurate SWE parameter for differentiation and assess the influence of microcalcifications and chronic autoimmune thyroiditis on SWE values. We examined 119 patients with 169 thyroid nodules who prospectively underwent B-mode ultrasound and SWE using the same ultrasound machine. The parameters assessed using SWE were: mean elasticity within the entire lesion (SWE-whole) and mean (SWE-mean) and maximum (SWE-max) elasticity for a 2-mm-diameter region of interest in the stiffest portion of the lesion, excluding microcalcifications.

Microbial colonisation of chronic venous ulcers and synergism between bacterial species slow down the healing process. The study aimed at performing qualitative analysis of microbial flora in venous leg ulcers treated with platelet rich plasma (PRP). Twenty two women and twelve men aged 47-90 years were treated with PRP at our department between 2012 and 2015.

Introduction: Fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF-1) is a powerful mitogen involved in the stimulation of DNA synthesis and the proliferation of a wide variety of cell types. Fibroblast growth factor 1 was genetically modified to improve its thermal stability and resistance to protease degradation without losing its biological activity.

Aim: To study the impact of Q40P/S47I/H93G rFGF-1 on skin cells, its penetration through the skin and the evaluation of the rFGF-1-cosmetic product properties.

Unlabelled: Shear wave elastography (SWE) is a modern method for the assessment of tissue stiffness. There has been a growing interest in the use of this technique for characterizing thyroid focal lesions, including preoperative diagnostics.

Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the clinical usefulness of SWE in medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) diagnostics.

This study presents the detailed construction and the principle of performance of high frequency (HF) ultrasound scanner for skin examination. The aim of this study was to show a difference between diseased and healthy skin and to evaluate the usefulness of the scanner in monitoring of therapeutic efficacy of morphea and lichen sclerosus et atrophicus (LSA). We examined 48 patients aged between 15 and 64 years; 25 patients with plaque-type morphea, nine patients with linear morphea and 14 patients with LSA.

The purpose of this study was to work out a diagnostic algorithm to be used in patients surgically treated because of a false aneurysm of arteries supplying the lower limb. The study includes preoperative vessel evaluation as well as treatment results assessment with MRA and US methods. Examinations included until now 16 patients with clinical false aneurysm suspicion.

The purpose of our study was the evaluation of usefulness of Magnetic Resonance Angiography in diagnostic process in patients with arteriosclerosis of lower extremities and complications such as aneurysms and pseudoaneurysms. 105 patients were examined using 2D TOF method. We concluded the results were very similar as in radiological examinations.

In a group of 1246 patients treated in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery-Institute of Stomatology, Medical Academy in Warsaw, in a period of 3 years (1984-1986) late results of treatment of mandibular fractures were assessed. In the assessment the range of mandible abduction, function of temporomandibular joints, occlusal abnormalities, the sensory function in the area innervated by the mental nerves and the condition of posttraumatic scars changing the morphology and aesthetic appearance of the face were considered. Limitation of mandibular abduction after treatment was found in 39 cases.

In 22 patients aged 34 to 87 years treated in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Institute of Stomatology, Medical Academy in Warsaw for malignant tumours of the lower gingiva the usefulness was assessed of the conventional radiological methods and computed tomography for the evaluation of malignant infiltrations. Computed tomography was found to be an auxiliary radiological method determining best the morphology and syntopy of malignant neoplasms of the lower gingiva infiltrating the soft tissues of the oral floor.

From 1981 to 1986 in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Institute of Stomatology, Medical Academy in Warsaw 85 patients were treated for carcinoma of the upper gingiva and palate. The follow-up of the patients after treatment was from 3 to 7 years. The obtained results of the treatment were analysed depending on the degree of differentiation of neoplasms and their biological aggressiveness and the therapeutic method used.

In 20 subjects aged 20-29 years the position of the connective tissue attachment was determined and the atrophy of the alveolar process bone was assessed by means of an analysis of pantomograms. The radiological image of the paradontium was compared with the result of clinical examination. It was found that radiological diagnosis by means of pantomography may be a valuable supplementation of clinical examination in case of advanced parodontitis with loss of connective tissue attachment by at least 6 mm.

Sensitimetric properties are described of X-ray films for taking occlusal radiograms: Dental DX, RF-42, Ultra-Speed, XR-11 KS (XM). The film Dental DX was estimated on the basis of examination of a skull specimen and clinical material. The sensitivity of the film Dental DX was 400% higher than that of the generally used RF-42 film.
