However, identifying nonunitary superconductors remains challenging. We demonstrate that spin current driven by thermal gradients sensitively probes the nature of the condensate in nonunitary superconductors.

Annual report on National Clinical Database 2021 for gastroenterological surgery in Japan.

Aim: The Japanese National Clinical Database, which covers more than 95% of the surgeries performed in Japan, is the largest nationwide database. This is the 2021 annual report of the Gastroenterological Section of the National Clinical Database, which aims to present the short-term outcomes of cases registered in 2021 and discuss significant changes and insights into gastroenterological surgeries observed over the decade.

Methods: We reviewed the data of patients registered in the National Clinical Database between 2012 and 2021.

Epstein-Barr Virus-Positive Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma Arising in Ulcerative Colitis: An Instructive Case Report and Literature Review.

Malignant lymphoma is a relatively rare complication in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and its etiology is unclear. We present a hard-to-diagnose case of Epstein-Barr virus-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in an elderly patient with UC who was treated with the immunomodulator tacrolimus and herbal medicine including indigo naturalis. Because malignant lymphomas can mimic other inflammatory diseases macroscopically, diagnosis in such cases can be challenging.

Subclinical amyloid deposition in inflammatory bowel diseases: A two hospital study.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), predominantly affects young patients and leads to intestinal complications. Amyloidosis, which involves abnormal protein deposition, is a serious complication of IBD, with a low incidence. Early detection of subclinical amyloid deposits is crucial for preventing fatal outcomes; however, routine investigations are lacking.

Three-year questionnaire study on human papillomavirus vaccination targeting new female college school students: Follow-up to a 2021 report to reveal the impact of a policy change in Japan.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the trend in human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates in Japan before and after a policy change in 2022, involving resumption of active recommendation and start of catch-up vaccination.

Methods: From 2021 to 2023, a web-based questionnaire survey was administered to newly enrolled female college students in Yokohama, Japan. The questionnaire included items such as age, HPV vaccination status, HPV vaccine awareness, and awareness of catch-up vaccination.

Primary Small Bowel Adenocarcinoma with Metastatic Ovarian Tumor in a Pregnant Woman.

Introduction: Primary small bowel carcinoma in pregnant women is extremely rare. Small bowel cancer is difficult to diagnose because of its rarity, lack of specific clinical symptoms, and particular anatomical features. We experienced a case of primary small bowel adenocarcinoma with ovarian metastasis during pregnancy.

Effect of bisphosphonate and denosumab treatment on TBS in Japanese breast cancer patients with AIBL.

Introduction: Bisphosphonates and denosumab increase bone mineral density (BMD) for osteoporosis treatment in patients with aromatase inhibitor-associated bone loss (AIBL). This study aimed to directly compare bisphosphonates with denosumab in treating patients with AIBL and to determine the effect of denosumab on the trabecular bone score (TBS).

Materials And Methods: Thirty-nine patients with AIBL receiving osteoporosis treatment (21 in the bisphosphonates group and 18 in the denosumab group) were retrospectively evaluated for changes in lumbar spine and femoral BMD, lumbar spine bone quality (assessed by TBS), and blood bone metabolic markers.

Effectiveness of rehabilitation for young patients with extensive right hemisphere cerebral infarction: A report of two cases.

Key Clinical Message: In younger patients, including those with extensive infarction involving the anterior and middle cerebral artery regions of the right hemisphere, appropriate treatment for rare causes and goal-oriented long-term rehabilitation could improve severe hemiplegia and higher brain dysfunction, and allow for further education and employment.

Abstract: Although the number of young stroke patients is small, many have serious sequelae and rare causes. In addition to independence in activities of daily living, education and employment are desired.

Objective: To investigate whether robotic surgery (RS) decreases the risk of circumferential resection margin (CRM) positivity compared with conventional laparoscopic surgery (LS) in patients with rectal cancer (RC) undergoing mesorectal excision (ME).

Background: Although it is well known that CRM positivity affects postoperative outcomes in patients with RC undergoing ME, few studies have investigated whether RS is superior to conventional LS for the risk of CRM positivity.

Methods: We performed a comprehensive electronic search of the literature up to December 2022 to identify studies that compared the risk of CRM positivity between patients with RC undergoing robotic and conventional laparoscopic surgery.

Is there a need for screening of cervical HPV infections and carcinoma?

Antenatal cervical screening aims to detect cervical intraepithelial neoplasms as precancerous lesions and invasive cervical cancer. Whether this screening is performed routinely during pregnancy varies depending on each country's screening participation rates, guidelines, and the risks to the pregnant woman. In some countries with the high rate of routinely implemented cervical screening among the target women, women are recommended to defer cervical screening intentionally to post-delivery, though having screening in consultation with physicians may be possible if routine screening overlaps.

Emerging evidence indicates that androgen receptor (AR) signaling plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of male-dominant urothelial cancer. Salvage surgery for pouch-related complication after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis: a report of two cases.

Background: Pouch-related complications (PRCs), such as pelvic abscesses and perianal complex fistulas, can occur after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) in ulcerative colitis (UC). They are often difficult to treat and require salvage surgery. We report two cases of PRC associated with fistulas.

Over one-third of stroke survivors develop aphasia, and language dysfunction persists for the remainder of their lives. Brain language network changes in patients with aphasia. Recently, it has been reported that phase synchrony within a low beta-band (14-19 Hz) frequency between Broca's area and the homotopic region of the right hemisphere is positively correlated with language function in patients with subacute post-stroke aphasia, suggesting that synchrony is important for language recovery.

Investigation of Expanded Human Adipose-derived Stem Cell Dosage and Timing for Improved Defecation Function.
