Article Synopsis
  • * Identified sesquiterpenoids in Chemotype 1 and 2 samples, along with two new oplopane derivatives, while Chemotype 3 had phenylpropenoids as the main components.
  • * No link was found between chemotype classifications and morphological characteristics, plus DNA analysis revealed extensive introgression among the sample populations.

Low protein solubility of recombinantly expressed proteins in Escherichia coli is a major factor hindering their application and analysis. We generated highly in vivo soluble mutants of a hydroxynitrile lyase in E.coli using protein engineering.

A novel S-hydroxynitrile lyase (HNL) was purified from leaves of a plant, Baliospermum montanum, by ammonium sulfate fractionation and column chromatographies. Full-length cDNA and genomic DNA were cloned and sequenced. The latter contained two introns and one ORF encoding a 263-residue protein (subunit: 29.

The chemical constituents of the roots of Ligularia lankongensis collected at seven different places in Yunnan Province, China, were investigated together with the DNA sequence of the atpB- rbcL intergenic region. All the samples contained a new, highly oxygenated bisabolane-type sesquiterpene ( 1). Four other oxygenated bisabolanes ( 2 and the new 3, 4, and 5) were also obtained.

We report here the function of L-serine O-acetyltransferase (SAT) from the glutamic acid-producing bacterium Corynebacterium glutamicum. Based on the genome sequence of C. glutamicum and the NH(2)-terminal amino-acid sequence, the gene encoding SAT (cysE) was cloned and expressed in C.
