Distribution of Sterigmatocystin-producing Aspergilli in Japan.

Sterigmatocystin is a genotoxic and hepatocarcinogenic mycotoxin that contaminates foods and environments worldwide. Sterigmatocystin is produced as a precursor to aflatoxin B1 or as an end product by certain Aspergilli. section is one of the major sections including sterigmatocystin-producing species and is thus a potential health and environmental hazard.

[Incidence of metabolic syndrome and associated lifestyle factors in a worksite male population].

Objectives: The prevention of metabolic syndrome (MetS) is one of the main targets of health promotion activities in the workplace. The present study aimed to clarify the incidence of MetS and associated lifestyle factors in a worksite male population.

Methods: The study subjects consisted of 948 working men (mean age: 44 yr old) who did not meet the Japanese criteria for MetS during the annual health examination at a precision instrument development plant in Kanagawa, Japan, 2005.
