In the embryonic neuroepithelium (NE), neural progenitor cells undergo cell cycle-dependent interkinetic nuclear migration (IKNM) along the apicobasal axis. Background: Immune-related adverse events (irAEs) are reported to be associated with better overall survival (OS) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors. However, there may be a bias in that patients who develop irAEs must survive long enough to experience the irAEs, and no prospective studies adjusting for immortal time bias (ITB) have examined the relationship between OS and pituitary dysfunction or the two different types of thyroid dysfunction: destructive thyroiditis and hypothyroidism without prior thyrotoxicosis (isolated hypothyroidism).

Bovine lactoferrin (bLF) is a 77 kDa glycoprotein that is abundant in bovine breast milk and exerts various bioactive functions, including antibacterial and antiviral functions. Few studies have explored bLF activity against parasites. We found that bLF affects hemozoin synthesis by binding to heme, inhibiting heme iron polymerization necessary for Plasmodium berghei ANKA survival in infected erythrocytes, and also binds to hemozoin, causing it to disassemble.

A useful perioperative nutritional therapy for highly invasive esophageal cancer surgical cases needs to be developed. We clarified the usefulness of amino-acid-enriched nutritional therapy using glutamine (Gln)/arginine (Arg)/calcium β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate (HMB) products on the short-term postoperative outcomes of minimally invasive esophagectomy for esophageal cancer. Altogether, 114 patients (Gln/Arg/HMB group) received perioperative nutritional therapy with Gln/Arg/HMB products, and we retrospectively investigated the change in nutritional parameters including skeletal muscle mass, occurrence of postoperative complications, and short-term postoperative outcomes in this group.

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) possess attractive electronic, optical, and catalytic properties, enabling many potential applications. Poly(-isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAAm) is a temperature-responsive polymer that changes its hydrophilicity upon a slight temperature change, and combining PNIPAAm with AuNPs allows us to modulate the properties of AuNPs by temperature.
