The widely known hue-heat effect, a multisensory phenomenon between vision and thermal sensing, is a hypothesis based on the idea that light and colors affect perceived temperature. However, the application of this effect has not been prevalent in our daily lives. To work towards developing more practical use of the hue-heat effect, we conducted a series of psychophysical experiments to investigate the relationship between perceived temperature and illumination in a well-controlled experimental environment.

In this research, we propose a new distributed PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) which is available to integrate several PACSs that exist in each medical institution. The conventional PACS controls DICOM file into one data-base. On the other hand, in the proposed system, DICOM file is separated into meta data and image data and those are stored individually.

Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is often used as a diagnostic method for mental illness, because the average patterns of changes in cerebral blood flow vary between such patients and healthy subjects. In addition, indoor environments and psychology alter the average patterns of changes in cerebral blood flow. These observations suggest that it may be possible to classify healthy subjects into different groups according to certain characteristics.

The human brain automatically processes information at multiple sites when recognizing various types of information at the same time, such as color, shape, etc. Cognitive conflict may occur when conflicting information is recognized at the same time. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is often used to examine the brain activity associated with this phenomenon.

Here, we propose an algorithm to automatically obtain extraction filters for the affected regions from cancer images. The proposed algorithm consists of two steps: extraction of affected region candidates and elimination of false positives. Useful features of cancer images, such as the area and degree of circularity of cancer nests, etc.

We propose a conformational search method to find a global minimum energy structure for protein systems. The simulated annealing is a powerful method for local conformational search. On the other hand, the genetic crossover can search the global conformational space.
