Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can be affected in the context of spondyloarthritis (SpA) with detrimental impact on individuals' quality of life. Intra-articular inflammation, synovitis, enthesitis, disc displacement and cervical vertebrae malalignment are some of the pathophysiological phenomena involved. Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) incidence appears to be higher in patients with ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis, especially when clinical evaluation includes not only imaging but relevant history, TMJ examination and diagnostic criteria for TMD.

Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is the most common type of cancer in the UK and Ireland, accounting for approximately 20% of all new malignancies recorded, with evidence of increasing incidence. Surgical excision is regarded as the gold standard treatment for such lesions; however, incomplete excision incurs both physical and financial strain on patients and the healthcare service. Our aim is to identify which anatomical regions of the head and neck pose greater risk of incomplete excision and raise awareness for future surgical practice.

Patients treated with individual computer-aided-design/computer-aided-manufacturing (CAD/CAM) ceramic implants were reviewed. To ascertain changes throughout the secondary reconstruction, the study investigators reviewed ophthalmological examinations, took volumetric measurements of the orbits and asked the patients for evaluation of their situation before and after the reconstruction.

Referrals for suspected SCC are seen by oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) surgeons and represent the bulk of 2-week wait referrals. The diagnosis and treatment of SCC is heavily influenced by national and international guidelines.

Several theories have been proposed to explain its aetiopathogenesis, the most favoured of which are the hormonally mediated theory, the theory of avascular necrosis, and the dysfunctional remodelling theory. The condition is diagnosed by a combination of clinical and radiological data as well as elements from the patient's history.

Dermal regeneration templates may be used in the reconstruction of large defects after the excision of cutaneous malignancies. We describe the successful use of Integra (Integra Lifesciences Corporation, Plainsboro, NJ, USA) as a single-stage regeneration template after the excision of multiple lesions of the scalp with a surface area of 96.7cm.

Background: Chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO) is a rare acquired inflammatory skeletal disorder of unknown origin. CRMO was first described by Gideon in 1972 and mainly affects children and young adults of female gender. The CRMO is part of the clinical picture of non-bacterial Osteomyelitis (NBO) and typically presents a relapsing recurring course with both remission and spontaneous exacerbation.

We used 12 domestic pigs of which 6 made up the experimental group and were treated with zoledronate 4mg intravenously weekly for 5 weeks, while the control group (n=6) were given no drugs. On day 60 the right second maxillary and mandibular third molars were extracted.

Macrophage polarization plays a significant role in the progression of hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis, being influenced from plasma cholesterol. On the other hand plasma lipids have been studied epidemiologically as risk factors in carcinogenesis.

Introduction: Among numerous techniques that have been described for lip repair, the Tennison-Randall method has gained popularity over time and is preferred by many surgeons due to the predictability of the outcome. This study aims to evaluate the esthetic outcome reached in the nasolabial region following primary lip repair with the use of this method.
Materials And Methods: Forty-four patients with unilateral cleft lip (with or without alveolar cleft) were assessed retrospectively through a photographic evaluation by two clinicians with regard to the aesthetics of the lip and nose separately as anatomical subunits as well as of the nasolabial region as an anatomical complex.
Rhabdomyomas are rare benign mesenchymal tumors with skeletal muscle differentiation and a predilection for the head and neck area. A 38-year-old man presented with persistent, slowly growing, painless swelling in the left inner cheek for 2½ years. The lesion was detected during routine dental examination and was considered to represent a mucocele.

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective study, describing our experience with the use of free scapula/parascapular flap in 130 reconstructions over a period of 5 years in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the University Hospital of Erlangen. Demographical data, data regarding the underlying pathology, flap raising details, microvascular anastomoses, early and late postoperative complications will be presented.
Oncocytic lipoadenoma is a rare salivary gland tumour composed of adipose tissue and oncocytic epithelial cells in varied proportions. This tumour is still not included in the current WHO classification of salivary gland neoplasms. We herein report a further case of oncocytic lipoadenoma originating in the parotid gland of a 55-year-old woman.

Hyperoxalurias can basically be classified as primary and secondary, with the first being inborn errors of metabolism and the second a result of excessive oxalate intake. Primary hyperoxalurias form a rare group of metabolic diseases that are inherited in the autosomal recessive fashion.
