Continuous retrograde Del Nido cardioplegia, a common practice for maintaining cardiac arrest during a procedure when a patient has patent circulation, has the unintended side effect of significantly adding to the net fluid infused into the patient. Systemic hyperkalemia has been induced to reduce the amount of cardioplegia needed to maintain cardiac electromechanical arrest.

Rupture of the ventricular septum during acute myocardial infarction usually occurs within the first week. The event is usually followed by low cardiac output, heart failure, and multiorgan failure. Despite the many advances in the nonoperative treatment of heart failure and cardiogenic shock, including the intra-aortic balloon pump and a multitude of new inotropic agents and vasodilators, these do not supplant the need for operative intervention in these critically ill patients.

An extremely acidic mine drainage (AMD) water sample was collected in 1998 and 2008 from Panandhro lignite mine, Gujarat, India. The yeast isolated from this sample was identified using mini API identification system, as a member of genus Candida. The major cellular fatty acids detected by FAME from the isolate are C(16:0) and C(18:2) (cis 9,12)/C(18:0alpha) as 25.
